【おかしな英語】

The hot water doesn't come out.

【通じる英語】

この英語表現は、間違った日本人英語の典型例です。「お湯が出る」はどう表現すべきか――さんざん悩んだ結果、考えついた英語のようです。しかし、そんなにむずかしく考えず、hot water を生かせるのです。
「Turn on ―（栓をひねって）ガス、水などをだす」「（スイッチをひねって）電機、テレビ、ラジオなどをつける」、「Turn off（ガス、水、電気、テレビ、ラジオなどを）消す」は、よく使われます。
The lights don't turn on.
（電気がつきません）
The desk lamp doesn't (won't) turn on.
（机のランプがつきません）
I can't turn off the gas.
（ガスを止めることができません）
The television doesn't turn (come) on.
（テレビがつきません）
また、don't (doesn't) work という表現も使えます。
The lights don't work.
（電気がつきません）
The desk lamp doesn't work.
（机のランプがつきません）
The television isn't working.
（テレビがつきません）
機械であれば、broken または out of order（故障している）と表現できます。
The tap in the bathtub is broken.
（浴槽の蛇口が壊れている）
The air conditioning is out of order.
（エアコンが壊れています）
ついでながら、「お湯がぬるくて困る」ときは――、
The hot water is not hot enough.
（お湯が十分、熱くならないのですが……）
