マタイの福音書 22:1-14 Matthew 22:1-14
1 天の御国（神が支配される国、生き方）がどのようなものかを教えようと、イエスはまた幾つかのたとえ話をなさいました。
1 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:
2 「たとえば天の御国は、王子のために盛大な結婚披露宴を準備した王のようなものです。
2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.
3 大ぜいの客が招待されました。宴会の準備がすっかり整ったので、王は使いを送り、招待客を呼びに行かせました。ところが、みな出席を断ってきたのです。
3 He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
4 それで王は、もう一度別の使いをやり、こう言わせました。『何もかも用意ができました。肉も焼き始めています。おいでを待つばかりです。』
4 “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
5 ところが、招待客はそれを気にかけず、ある者は農場へ、ある者は自分の店へと出かけて行きました。
5 “But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business.
6 そればかりか、中には王の使者に恥をかかせたり、なぐったり、殺してしまう者さえいました。
6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them.
7 これを聞いて怒った王は、すぐさま軍兵を出動させ、人殺しどもを滅ぼし、彼らの町を焼き払ってしまいました。
7 The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 そして王は、『披露宴の準備はできたというのに、招いておいた者たちはそれにふさわしくなかった。
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come.
9 さあ、町へ行って、出会う者は片っぱしから、みな招くのだ』と命じました。
9 So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’
10 王の使者たちは、命令どおり、善人悪人の区別なく、だれでも招待しました。宴会場は客でいっぱいです。
10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11 ところが、王が客に会おうと出て来ると、用意しておいた婚礼の礼服を着ていない客が一人います。
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.
12 『礼服もつけずに、どうしてここへ入って来たのか』と尋ねましたが、その男は何とも返事をしません。
12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
13 それで王は、側近の者たちに命じました。『この男の手足を縛って、外の暗闇に放り出しなさい。そこで泣いてくやしがるのだ。』
13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14 招待される人は多くても、選ばれる人は少ないのです。」
14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

自分に信仰が無いことを思い知らされるが、昨日からまだとある奉仕への参加表明を出来ずにいる。
昨日から祈り求めて、みことばで示されるところが多く、参加しなさいという招きを受けていた。
そして、付帯する状況への心配は克服できたのに、今後は、その奉仕の内容が私の出来るものではない気がしてきて、まるで、参加しない理由を探しているようなものだ。
奉仕というのは義務でやるものではないし、だからと言って、好き嫌いだけで判断したりとか、誰かがやっているからという理由でやるものでもないとは思う。
ただ、好きも誰かがやってるも、義務を感じるも、招きであるケースもあり、それに応じてみることによって、本当のその奉仕の意味とか姿とか喜びもまた見えてくるもののように思う。
自分自身による決定、計画、未来とか、そういうものを、信仰によって捨てることは、もともとのそういったもの以上のものが与えられることを何度も経験している。
だから、私はもうその奉仕をしない理由がないのだ。
今日それは、更に厳しい言葉となってみことばにあらわれた。
高価な洋服を着てこいと言われているのではなく、用意された礼服を着ればよいだけなのに、私はそれを着ない理由を探しているのだと思った。
ただ、美味いものだけ食べようとしているのと同じことだぞ、というチャレンジだ。
まあ、人によれば、たかが奉仕のことで……というような内容かも知れないけれど、私にとっては大きな問題だった。しかしこれでけりがついた。
