オーストラリア北東部の一部で、直径16cmの巨大なひょうが降りました。

A huge hailstorm with a diameter of 16 centimeters has hit parts of northeastern Australia.

16センチといえば、日本の壱万円札の横幅と同じで、iPhone 11 Pro Max の高さより少し大きく、500ml缶の高さより少し小さいくらいです。

At 16 centimeters, it is the same width as a Japanese 10,000 yen bill, slightly larger than the height of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and slightly smaller than the height of a 500ml can.

これまでの国内記録である直径14センチを超えており、オーストラリア気象局は、今回のひょうを公式に国内最大と認定しました。

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has officially declared the hail to be the largest in the country, exceeding the previous national record of 14 centimeters in diameter.

ひょうの表面はゴツゴツと突起物がついており、窓、屋根やソーラーパネルを破壊し、車のフロントガラスを粉砕する事態となりました。

The surface of the hail was lumpy and protruding, destroying windows, roofs and solar panels, and shattering car windshields.

性別Xのパスポート 英作文

米国務省は２７日、性別欄に「Ｘ」と記載されたパスポート（旅券）を初めて発給したと発表した。

On April 27, the U.S. State Department announced that it had issued the first passport with an "X" in the gender field.

性別に「Ｘ」を選択できる制度は、パスポートに加え、海外在住の米国民に発行する出生証明書にも適用され、２０２２年初めまでに広く利用可能となる。

The ability to select "X" for gender will apply to passports as well as birth certificates issued to U.S. citizens living abroad, and will be widely available by early 2022.

また、米国籍保持者がパスポートに記載する性別を自ら選択することを許可した。これまでは、出生証明書などの書類と異なる性別を記載するためには医学的な証明が必要とされていた。

It also allowed U.S. citizens to choose their own gender to be listed in their passports. Until now, medical proof was required in order to list a different gender from that on birth certificates and other documents.

米国の他にパスポートの性別欄に「Ｘ」や「その他」の選択肢を用意している国は少なくとも１１か国に上る。

In addition to the U.S., there are at least 11 other countries that provide an "X" or "other" option in the gender field of passports.
