Leo will be reaching Singapore in a few more hours!
I have known Leo for the longest time. We were classmates in 2004, and he sat in front of me. I approached him to talk to him first, when I saw him looking at a Warcraft game manual. I was 14, and he was 12.
13 years later, I am now 27, and he is 25. He hadn't been my best friend for the whole 13 years, but he was for the last 7 years at least. I actually didn't talk to him much between 2008-2009. I got angry at him for long time back in Secondary school for owing me money for so long, but all that seems so trivial now.
I got angry for a lot of trivial things when I was younger. It's such a pity. I could have kept some of my friends if not for my short temper. In recent years, I rarely got angry. In fact, I was the one making someone angry all the time.
Leo has done a lot for me; such as comforting me around this period of time a year ago, when the Princess stopped loving me. I'm always receiving help from him.
He seems to be doing really well now, so there's hardly anything I can do for him. But I guess friendship doesn't require any give and take. I hope we can stay as friends forever. ![]()
I got invited to sing for the annual company dinner and dance.
There's a surprising number of people in the band, and they are going to have a jamming session at the end of the month. I decided to give it a try. It's a good company, and I like singing, nothing to lose eh.
Last Friday, there was a karaoke bonding event at Manekineko Marina Square. At first I told HR I wouldn't go as I thought there are no Japanese songs, but I was wrong. There are actually 2600 Japanese songs, amazingly.
I sang my best Gackt song, and everyone seemed really surprised. My team mates laughed. Later on they told me I sang really well, and one of them who is already in the band told me I MUST join the band. Another guy from my batch but different team came and told me I sang super well, "legitly good" was the way he put it.
Singing in front of soooooooo many people is embarrassing, but I'm used to it. I sang in front of Techno Research almost exactly a year ago.
For the rest of the night, I spent chatting with S-chan. She told me about how she got interested in Japanese, about her stay in Japan, and about her days doing Kendo. She had a paradigm shift at some point of time and wanted to migrate to UK for a while, but things didn't work up very well between her and her boyfriend. She wanted to stay as friends with him, but he decided to stop talking to her.
In the end, her previous European company had to cut down operations on Singapore and she's in a Japanese company now. Everything came full circle for her.
I chatted with her for 2 hours or so, and we both left the karaoke early and walked back together.
Yesterday she added me on Facebook, which surprised me. So far, few people in the company are interested in adding one another on Facebook from what I noticed. I already feel quite close to her. I already think I will be quite devastated if she quits the company someday. I hope not.
As for work, I have finished my character design task. I will be so, so happy if my first ever task is selected to be used in the game.
I am moving on to the second task, which is to propose a story event. I am watching some Japanese dramas during work hours for research. This is really difficult as my Japanese is not as good as a native, and there's absolutely no way I can write better than natives. However, I might be able to come up with a better idea, which can make up for my writing skills. I will do my best.
So far, the job is incredibly fun. I really love it. The work, the people, the environment, it's all wonderful.
(P.S. I'm sad that Usagi and Piske can no longer be used in ameblo...

I officially joined the game development team as of yesterday!
There was a meeting, and I briefly introduced myself to the Japanese team through video conference. The producer and project manager both speak really quickly, and I couldn't catch a lot of what they said.
I had a short meeting with the lead programmer and planner to discuss what kind of work I'm interested in doing. I expressed interest in story events and character design, rather than balancing.
Later in the day, I was given my first two tasks. Indeed I got what I asked for, and it's something no one in the company has done before, so I have no one to rely on. Story creation will require really strong Japanese skills... I'm not confident of pulling it off, but I will try my best.
I have gotten quite close with a few people in the company. Namely my batch mates (two guys and one girl) and one senior. The girl talks to me using the internal instant messenger very frequently. Maybe she feels more attached to me as I helped her out a lot on her first few days here. Either way, I'm glad that there exists Singaporean girls out there I can get along with well. They are so rare.
In the future I want to be a great senpai. Gotta go out of my way to be one.
Towards the end of the day I had a short interview with the two software managers, and I received excellent feedback from them. They said I am sociable, efficient, systematic, and have a sense of urgency. I'm glad the managers could see me in such a positive light.
I think I am doing really well so far. Being good at Japanese really gave me a huge advantage.
In the evening, I had a tuition session. This time round my student came to Hougang for the lesson, which makes things really convenient for me. Even though he stopped going to school due to personal issues, and often cancels his other tuitions, he never cancels my lessons. Seems like he's quite attached to me. His mum told me that I'm a blessing to them.
Overall, I think life is treating me well now. Thank you everyone for being kind to me.

I will regularly blog about my daily life from now on, even though no one reads my blog, just like in the past. Goodbye!

Recently Matt finally went and got himself a job as an uber driver. I feel so happy for him!
He had been feeling depressed since his relationship ended. That's almost 2 years ago. Getting busy will take his mind off it, I'm sure.
He's been trying for the longest time to find a job in Japan, but met no success. I myself decided against working in Japan, and I tried to advise him against it, but he's dead set on it. He thinks escaping to Japan will allow him to forget all the sad memories here.
I don't think escaping is a solution. Facing problems head on might be difficult, but what if he encounters other problems in Japan? He won't even have friends there to help him.
For now, I am just happy he finally got a job and income. He's not young anymore, and he needs to learn to be independent now.

I just collected my degree certificate from NTU. This would be the second last time I visit NTU... The last visit will be my convocation in July.
I had some of my most unforgettable memories in NTU. To name one, I kissed the most beautiful girl in the world there. It was my first kiss, and it felt very different from what I imagined.
I didn't enjoy the school part much, although there were things like Japanese Village, astronomy, and forensic science that I really liked. I also got the opportunity to live in Japan for a while thanks to NTU.
The school has gotten really famous since I entered. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get into NTU if I was born a few years later. I guess I was pretty lucky.
