I officially joined the game development team as of yesterday!
There was a meeting, and I briefly introduced myself to the Japanese team through video conference. The producer and project manager both speak really quickly, and I couldn't catch a lot of what they said.
I had a short meeting with the lead programmer and planner to discuss what kind of work I'm interested in doing. I expressed interest in story events and character design, rather than balancing.
Later in the day, I was given my first two tasks. Indeed I got what I asked for, and it's something no one in the company has done before, so I have no one to rely on. Story creation will require really strong Japanese skills... I'm not confident of pulling it off, but I will try my best.
I have gotten quite close with a few people in the company. Namely my batch mates (two guys and one girl) and one senior. The girl talks to me using the internal instant messenger very frequently. Maybe she feels more attached to me as I helped her out a lot on her first few days here. Either way, I'm glad that there exists Singaporean girls out there I can get along with well. They are so rare.
In the future I want to be a great senpai. Gotta go out of my way to be one.
Towards the end of the day I had a short interview with the two software managers, and I received excellent feedback from them. They said I am sociable, efficient, systematic, and have a sense of urgency. I'm glad the managers could see me in such a positive light.
I think I am doing really well so far. Being good at Japanese really gave me a huge advantage.
In the evening, I had a tuition session. This time round my student came to Hougang for the lesson, which makes things really convenient for me. Even though he stopped going to school due to personal issues, and often cancels his other tuitions, he never cancels my lessons. Seems like he's quite attached to me. His mum told me that I'm a blessing to them.
Overall, I think life is treating me well now. Thank you everyone for being kind to me.
