有楽町のよみうりホールで開催された映画「母べい」の試写会に出席する。
試写会に先立って山田洋次監督と主演女優吉永小百合が舞台で挨拶をする。私は前列3列目という撮影には絶好のポジションだったが、司会者のカメラによる撮影はご遠慮くださいという言葉で撮影は断念する。
とはいえ、すぐ眞近で大女優吉永小百合を見て、話を聞くことができたのは、クリスマスプレゼントのようなものだった。彼女のように美しく年をとることができるのは、幸せですね。
会場は小百合が現れるとあって、サユリストで一杯でした。
映画は、投獄された夫と二人の幼い子供を支えながら気丈に生きていく母の姿、家族の固い絆、家族の愛に若い青年の淡い恋心を絡ませながら進行していく。
困難に耐えながら、誇りを捨てず、家族との愛に生きていく母の姿に
会場にはすすり泣きの声が、嗚咽の声が聞こえていた。
人間はいかに苦しくても、こんなに美しく生きていけるのかと私たちに教えてくれた映画だった。
