ローカライゼーション・・・・「全てのサービス、製品は翻訳され、各国の市場に適用される。」というむりやりな定義。でもそもそも開発された製品というのは主にベンダーからのものなので、業界外の人に説明しても、翻訳やってるの？と聞かれることがあるけれど、それは正しくない。
ソフトウェアエンジニアとという職種もいなくてはいけなかったり、他にはプロジェクトマネージャー、業務マネージャー、営業マネージャー、ＩＴ、ＣＥＯがいるだけである。ベンチャーなので、徹底的にコストを下げるため、翻訳者とかデザイナーさんは、ほとんどが外注なのだ。その数は数百人にものぼる。
逆に、外注にしないとと、社内の人件費がかさんでしまうので、なるべく社内はスッキリさせている。（社内常駐なんと6人！）
これも問題があるのではは思うけれど．．．．
ベンチャーは、よくもあしきもその経営者のやり方が全面にでがちなので、そのポリシーなるものにうなずけない場合、かなり仕事がしにくいことがある。ＵＫ内で見てきた限り、技術に関心がある経営者というのは、少ないために、またより一層苦労することになる。（理屈で説明する時間、体力、と、根気が必要）
私的には、それでもベンチャーで働きたい場合、オススメは立ち上げメンバーに加わることがベストだと思う。
それともう1つ。ＵＫでも海外でもどこでも、その国のベンチャーというのは、家族で経営している場合をよく見る。奥さんが会計をやっているとか、そういうパターン。
経営者じゃなくても、社員同士が家族とかも（日本に比べると）多い気がするのは気のせいなのだろうか？
そんなとき、前もって気をつけなくてはいけないのは、家族の都合というやつだ。
プライベートを仕事に持ち込むのはどうか、なんていってる場合じゃないくらい、家族の絆はとっても深い。
英語ではこういう形態の会社のことを、
「Mam and Pop」
というんだそうな。なんでも、ママが家でポップコーンを差し入れしてくれるからとかなんとかいうなぞの理由？
殺伐としてるよりは、いいのでしょうけれどね。

こちらに来た後に知ったことなのだが、イギリスでフルワークパーミットを取得するには、
・ ＥＵ内では満たせない役員レベルや専門職のポスト、イギリスに雇用と投資をもたらす新職種、イギリスにおいて人手が不足している職種のいずれかであること。
であるそうだ。
自分の場合、日本で受け取っていた会社からのパーミットを転職の際にトランスファーして、手続き上の
不便さはあったけれど、それほどの苦労はなかった。
ただ、こちらに学生ビザで来て、それから労働許可証取得となると、とても苦労するらしい。
年々値上がりするビザ手数料（今回のトランスファーでも、窓口申請が￡500、郵送申請￡375）は
会社負担でない場合、なんと法外な値段、と思う。
転職活動をする場合、このワークパーミットの満了期間がいつまでなのかを確認する人材バンクがほとんどである。そのほかには、レジデントビザなるものを持っていると、就職に有利（雇用主がビザの手数料を節約できる）という話もあるようだ。
この労働許可証、年々厳しくなっているようで、2004年からまた新たに、高度技能者用パーミット(Highly Migrant Skilled Program) なるものも追加されている。移民が多い国なだけに、法律が本当によく変わる。
ホーム・オフィスのサイト では随時更新した詳細情報と申し込み書が手に入れられるという。
*余談： ある日本人学生さんの話では、昔は学生ビザは空港でタダでスタンプしてもらえたのだとか。
いまは、高い授業料プラスビザの負担が大きいという話。

Do you know how to get a driving license in here UK?
It's so frightning because you do not have any special place to drive as a biginner.
From completely beginner, I stared this driving lesson on the road in the city centre.
The instructer is normally sitting next to you and gives me an advise of drinving.
Even though I could not manage to cope with for first 5 hours.
To get a complete license, you need to pass both of Theory test and Practical test.
Theory test should be very easy, check mark on the computer screen, but practical one is so hard depending on the area you take it.
So far 50 hours lessons has been taken, so I used to drive as normal driver.
30 hours in Cambridge and 20 hours in here, Oxford.
Unfortunately these both location is very restricted area having a lots of accident.
Incidentally the fee for one driving lesson costs me about 23 pounds.(4600 en).
Is it expensive or not?

Memoirs of Geisha - 邦題ＳＡＹＵＲＩ
オックスフォード ＯＤＥＯＮにて観賞。
周りの外国人からの前評判のよさにつられて観にいったのだけれど、これは本当に日本の話なのか、と思和されること多々あり。
なんでも中国では、日本の芸者を中国人俳優が演じていることで、上映禁止になっているとか・・・
ストーリーはいたってシンプルで、全編を通して話される英語の節々になぜか日本語の「こんにちは」とか「おねえさん」とかが入れられている。
ハリウッド映画だけに、ビジュアル面には、こだわりがあるようだったが、純日本人から観るとやや不自然さが目についた。
主演のチャン・ツイィーは他のどの共演者よりも、外国人が期待する日本人女性のイメージを
醸し出していたんではないか。
しばらく観ないうちに、ロバートデニーロに似てきた渡辺健に対して、これもハリウッド進出による副作用なのか、などと思う。
役所さんの顔半面の傷については、語られる必要があったのではないか？（見逃していただけ？）
原作がハリウッド発だそうで、日本人の感覚ではなんだか、などど様々な疑問を残す映画だったけれど、
実験的な映画にも英語でがんばった俳優さんたちと、ゴージャスに創られた舞台セットに4点。
でも、日本が舞台のはずの物語が、ハリウッドで売るために、逆輸入されてる不自然な構成にマイナス1点。
これを外国人の立場で観たら、ひょっとしたら、凄く感動していたのかな？

Here is my current client for my side-bussiness, called Rotator Studio.
What I was supposed to is the purely translation for the Japanese tourist in UK, which is sort of exciting.
I had an interview with the guy in this studio. What amased me is that this studio is basically opened for the recording music, so I could listen all sort of music during my interview.
The volume of this contents are 300 tracks (300 pages).
After the trasnlation, this would be recorded with Japanese voice actor in the studio.
300 hundred tracked should be devided in 3 segment, and each of them should be finished in one week. Therefore, from tonight I will have to concentrate for the translation, feeling isolation a little while....
The contents is about the scotland tourism, Edinbough and Glasgow.
Nowadays, there are lots of article about Edingbough so it'll never be shortage of information.
Today I finished 100 tracks (100 pages) somehow, as having used my office working time.
The rate for this task is about 1000 pounds (200.000 en)! .... yeah, much better!!

In order to find it, in the local news paper , there are sometimes job offers (part time) classified.
A few days ago, I found the advertisement of Japanese small translation :
-----TO WRITE A PERSONAL LETTER IN JAPANESE.------
Having no experience such a small customer, so I was interested in it.
Contacted with the advertiser and got reply from him, explaining what he wants me to translate.
The background seems to be complicated though, simply he want to make up his friendship with his English friend in Japan, and write it to his Japanese wife.
Anyway, we had a meeting at last night, having had a chat in the detail.
He (Peter) tried to explain their situation as mush as he could.
He ad an English friend (M) in Oxford who moved in Japan for his work and live with his Japanese wife (T) in Osaka. His profesion is a teaching in Universty, which M is really proud of.
One day, Peter wrote a letter to M to say ' his career would be great and more for his future but it would not garantee long term without learning Japanese.
After this letter, Peter has never got any reply from M and think that the last letter made M angry and upset. Therefore he is going to send a final letter to T to wish M's luck.
Well it must be so long relationship (40 years!), I try to summerize what Peter wants to say to M.
It was about 3 hours conversation. I have never seen such a person writing a letter just for being polite! What mede me feel difficult was that writing in Japanese for elder person, I'm not used to do hand writing to older people.
In te endy this task would be worth of ￡25 (\ 5.000) .............even though its something whorthwhile to do......
Well life is tough, really.
余談：後日この手紙を清書して、受け渡したところ、￡35（7000円）で引き取っていただけました。こういった個人的な仕事をしたのは初めてだったので単価がつけにくいというのが感想です。こういう機会では、また、アイリッシュパブでごちそうになったりと、オプションが付き、楽しく仕事ができました。-2月10日終了

Nope! Tthe title was not correct. Actually it was a very big snow in Tokyo.
While UK was warm enough to go out for a walk, Japan had a heavy snow there according to the news. I remember always Japanese snow has very wetty and not easy to cope with.
Looks beautiful tough, having a compassion for Japanese people who had to go out in such a terrible condition.

Having been in Japan for 2 weeks until 15th Jan, came back here at 16th Jan.
Just after then, I was so scared by the news of Livedoor. And also by other news, I'm quite thinking how Japan is going to be?
For me, it's important to syncronise the culture between UK and my own country.
This is why I started this blog.
And it would be my big pleasure if my information is useful for all who are interested in working abroad locally.
Bacically this blog will be written in bilingual, English and Japanese.

今年の1月2週目まで日本に帰国していたのだけれども、こちらに帰ってきた直後、ライブドアショック、牛肉問題などネガティブなニュースを知った。驚いた。イギリス現地採用の間、日本の情報をきちんと知っておくことは大切だと思い、記録をはじめることにする。

I saw a couple of Japanese women taking an English lesson in a cafe when I was in Japan this Jan.
They were having an English conversation approximately 1 hour, talking about their daily life and express their feelings to the native English speaker.
Are these lesson less expensive than doing it in the school?
