アメリカが戦時中のような状態になっている、アメリカはコロナウイルスに関して転換点(tipping point)に到達したのだ、という３月のニュース。死者数が１００を超えたことを受けての記事だが、その後の増加は世界最悪で、１０万に超えている。
tipping pointとは、「転換点」の意味だが、より深い意味がある。

とある。ジャンルによってさまざまな意味が定義されているが、おおざっぱにいえば、一度超えたらもう二度と後戻りできないような転換点を指す、と考えれば良いと思われる。
tipping pointというとマルコム・グラッドウェルのThe Tipping Pointという本があるが、これも大きな変化を生み出す小さな変換をあつかった本。
