先週こちらの本を読み終わりましたので
感想を書いておきます。

How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns to Live Like Everyone Else
この本はノンフィクションです。
主人公はエール大学を卒業後、
大手の広告会社に入り、役員まで
出世したのですが、ある日経営陣の
刷新で突如リストラされます。
そして偶然立ち寄ったスターバックス
で声を掛けられ、スターバックスで
働くようになります。
働き始めた当初はそれほどスターバックス
の仕事に魅力を感じてなかったのですが、
徐々に接客の仕事の楽しさ、奥深さに
気づいていくというのが大筋です。
この本の特徴は筆者が現在
と過去を回想する場面が出てきます。
注意して読んでないと話の流れを
見失いそうになります。
文章は随筆文で読みやすいですし、
使われている単語もそんなに難しく
ないので、スラスラ読めます。
この本で一番印象に残ったのが、
主人公が別の店に転勤が決まった際に
勤めている店の仲間から寄せられた
手紙の言葉です。
少し長いですが、引用します。
For all the times you have stood
by us,we thank you.
For showing us what legendary service
truly means,we applaud you.
You have taught us never yo give up
our dreams.
That one day they come true.
This is our prayer for you.
・A few friends who understand him
＆ remain his friend.
・A work to do which has real value,
without which the world would be poorer.
・A mind unable to travel,even though the
trail be rough.
・An understanding heart
・A sense of humor
・Time for quiet,silent meditation.
・A feeling of the presence of God,the patience
to wait for the coming of these things,with the
wisdom to recognize them when they come.
