Hi, this is Jesus!

This week, we are facing two challenges.

On one hand, everybody has many final tests and reports, so there were not that many people at practice. On the other hand, there are only 5 days left for JO予選, and we are trying to go in the best physical and mental state to this competition.

This week I will swim 50 and 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle. So for the last goal set, I did all breaststroke, and the menu really got me. I also have a test on Friday and some reports to write this week, so this swimming diary might be a little short. But I heard some people have even 8 finals in these 2 weeks. That’s crazy.

I guess that’s what you get for being a student-athlete LOL.

Recently, I have updated my dryland routine. I am focusing on improving my range of motion, so I incorporated new exercises like “Barbell good mornings” and more variations of pull-ups by changing the grip, such as pronated, supinated, wide grip, etc. Right now, I am focusing more on being able to move my body efficiently than maximizing the weight I can lift for each exercise. So, I reduced the weight I was using before, but I am trying to go through a full range of motion. For example, I started to do deep squats instead of half squats as before. Hopefully, it will help me achieve better technique.

Coincidentally, I saw Hayakawa-san this week in Kawauchi gym. Long time no see. I am looking forward to going to his Oikon.

Anyways, let’s talk about the menu.

I am not good at kicking, so the 2x200 were really challenging for me. I tried to focus on keeping a high hip position and do my best.

I really felt the fatigue at the 2x200 pull. I am pretty sure it was due to the hard-training menu we had last Saturday.

So the main set was 4x4x50 S1. I did everything in freestyle, and my goal was not a certain time but to try to keep good technique while moving fast in the water. I am trying to focus on holding more water with my left side since I feel that my stroke is much weaker on that side.

I will continue working hard for future tournaments. Hopefully, I will have more time to train properly during the holidays, so I am looking forward to that.

That was all!
