息子の成績に関してのミーティングで
MAPテストの成績を見せられました。
「こんなに向上しているんですよ｣って。
「これって、何点満点なんですか?｣
「これはどういう意味なんですか?｣
と突っ込んだ質問をしたら
そこにいた４人の先生が応えられなかった!!
「校長先生はよく知っているんだけど･･･｣って。
これがアメリカ人らしいなって思ったんですが、
先生は
折れ線グラフがうなぎのぼりに上昇していること
MAPテストには学年ごとに点数が決まっていて
その点数に結果を当てはめて
「あなたのお子さんは○学年レベル｣
と言うのを見る だけ なんです。
余談だけど
アメリカのお医者様もそんな感じ
「のどが痛い｣と言うと
ストレップスロートという伝染病を調べます。
で、そうじゃないとOK
「えっ？じゃこののどの痛みは何?｣
と突き止めない。
重病や伝染病じゃなかったらそれでOK
ってことがままあります。
でも
教育ママゴンとしては気になる

An advantage of the RIT scale is that it can relate the numbers on the scale directly to the difficulty of items on the tests. In addition, the RIT scale is an equal interval scale. Equal interval means that the difference between scores is the same regardless of whether a student is at the top, bottom, or middle of the RIT scale, and it has the same meaning regardless of grade level。

and growth. RIT stands for Rasch UnIT, which is a measurement scale
developed to simplify the interpretation of test scores. The RIT score
relates directly to the curriculum scale in each subject area. It is an
equal-interval scale, like feet and inches, so scores can be added

とりあえず、これで
学年レベルで何パーセントに当たるかが測れるらしい。

多分ですが、
このテストはいろんな学校が受けてます。
学区のレベルは子供たちの場合、それ一校なので
学区の平均より上でも学校のレベルが低かったらよくないですよね。
このれだと全米とまでは言わないけど
他の学校全体の平均が分かるようです。
で、子供たちの学校とこの平均を比べると
どの教科もその平均より少し上回っているので
学校レベルも悪くないと言うことになります。
