Kodaline - High Hopes

コーダライン。アイルランド出身のバンド。活動開始時は21 Demandsというバンド名だったが2011年にKodalineへと改名。今年、Kodalineとして初めてリリースされたアルバム「In a Perfect World」はアイルランドの公式アルバムチャートで堂々の一位を獲得。

この曲はボーカルのスティーブが大学を中退したときに書かれた曲。「どうしようもなくなって、全てが悪い方向に行ってたけどポジティブでいようとしたんだ。この曲はそれらの経験から作った。」

ロシアン・レッド。名前からしてロシア人か？なんて思ったりもしちゃいますけどスペイン人のシンガーソングライターです。ですが幼少期から英語歌詞の曲を聞いていたため、彼女の曲は英語で歌われています。

僕こういう歌大好きなんです。歌詞からしてもそうなんですけど、サウンドも「私、こうして生きてるのよ、毎日が楽しいわ」みたいな感じが。イントロから幸せになれる。優しげなコーラスも心地良い。

Laleh - Some Die Young

ラーレ。スウェーデンで活動しているシンガーソングライター。イランで生まれたが、当時は中東戦争の真っ只中だったので家族共々そこからは離れ、各地を逃げ回り、彼女が１２歳の頃にスウェーデンへと行き着いた。それからはそこに安住し、成長してからは短期間の女優活動などを経て歌手として活動を始めた。2005年にデビューアルバム「Laleh」をリリース。曲はスウェーデン語と英語で歌われている。

今回のこの曲は事前に何のプロモーションもなしに、on air on sale（テレビやラジオで発表と同時に発売）でとしてオンラインリリースされた。その後発売された彼女の4thアルバム「Sjung」にも収録されている。
