Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

アーケイド ファイア。1999年に前身バンドを結成。アーケードファイアとして2003年から活動を開始、カナダ出身のインディーロックバンド。2004年にバンドとして初めてのアルバム「Funeral」をリリースしビルボード200にもランクインした。2010年にリリースした「The Suburbs」は全英アルバムチャートで一位にランクインし、ビルボード200でも一位を獲得。第53回グラミー賞でも堂々の年間最優秀アルバムとして賞された。

郊外で暮らす子どもたちの成長を歌った歌。この歌の歌詞ははバンドのフロントメンバーであるウィンとその弟ウィルの幼少期を綴っている。大人と子どもの間、成長で葛藤する子供時代。大人にならなきゃ、と皆分かってるんだけど口には出さないし、心の中で無視をしようとする。最終的には成長するにつれ、もう夢を見てる場合なんかじゃない、と受け入れ大人への道へと足を進めていく。けどやっぱり心の中ではまだまだ子供だし夢を見ている。
