曲のタイトルでもあるFred Astaireとは、アメリカ、ネブラスカ州出身の俳優、ダンサー。ダンスの神様として知られている。ミュージカル全盛期の立役者。幼少の頃にダンスを始め、ダンサーとして舞台デビュー。その後、「Dancing Lady」への脇役としての出演で映画デビュー。それからはミュージカル映画などの主要作品にて華麗なダンスを披露し、数々のヒットを打ち出した。
