「讃美歌（４）」です。このメロディーを聞いたことはあるかも知れません。昔の向こう物テレビ番組「大草原の小さな家」でちょっと出て来たりしていたようです。日本では、歌の意味は、お祭りが近い収穫の日々の活気を表しているようで、理解しやすいものですね。「讃美歌」を一生懸命訳した先人たちが、その意味を宗教的に理解し切る中で、多くの説明と解釈をその歌詞の中に入れ込みました。そのために、曲自体が、敬遠されてしまうことにもなっています、よい曲なのに。
もともとの英語の歌を、YouTubeで見ると、カントリーっぽい曲調で、テンポよく歌われます。どんな風にこの歌を捉えていたか、それで分かります。

この辺り、働く、生きがいがよく表わされています。あまり、神様、神様、しなくても、いいのでは。

訳詩は文語調になりました。やっぱり、普通にその意味を捉え切れない文化的な差異が大きいですし、そのために、ひらがなにもできませんでした。漢字かな混じりの歯ごたえのああるまま歌ってみる、ということでしょうか。
