首都のオフィスに荷物を受けとりに行ってきました。日本の家族からの小包、中身は日本の食材。日本の食材は高価で、例えばしょうゆ1リットル1500円くらいです。いつも在庫があるわけではありません。貴重なものです。異国にいると、日本の物を見るだけでこんなにホッとした気持ちになるんだなぁ。メッセージも添えてくれて、どうもありがとう！

I went to an office at the capital for a package. I've had a package from my family, it contains Japanese foods. Those are expensive, for example, soy sauce costs 1,500 Yen one liter. They don't always keep stock.These are valuable to me. I realize that seeing Japanese items make me relieve. Thank you for sending a package along with a letter!

今日はオランダからの実習生が、自国の理学療法についてプレゼンテーションをしてくれました。いまさら知ったことですが、彼女達は理学療法士ではなく、キネティックセラピストの学生らしいです。でもほとんど理学療法士と変わりなく、身体機能に対する治療だけでなく、本人の意欲や気づき、運動を通しての回復を重視しているそうです。ICFの「参加」や「個人的要素」の部分の大切さを話してくれました。身体機能も見られることが大前提ということは自分の中に忘れずに持っていたいところです。

Students from Netherlands presented about physical therapy in their own country. I knew just now, they are students of kinetic therapy.That is hardly difference of physical therapist, they take care not only physical function but also motivation and awareness of patients and recovery through exercise.They talk the importance of "participation" and "personal elements” in ICF. I want to stand by the fundamental premise that physical therapist have to treat physical function.

みんなが何か話していると思ったら、ダイレクターの一人が病院に運ばれたとのこと。日本大使館に行く予定だったのですが、早朝すでにダイレクターは出発していました。スーツで連絡を待っていたものの、何の連絡もなし。気疲れした。。ダイレクターは元気だという知らせがせめてもの救いでした。私たちも一安心です。

Colleagues talked about something, one of the directors was taken to the hospital.We planned to go to Japan Embassy, but they had already left early in the morning.I wait for call from director with my suit on, but I had not received any communication until I called her. I was mentally fatigued... The information that the director was fine was at least some comfort. Now we can breathe a little easier.

お店のおばちゃんに、この近くにハンデキャップを持った人がいるか聞いてみました。でも「ここには居ない」とのこと。帰り道を歩くと、以前はお葬式会場だったところで少年たちが大勢の見物客に囲まれてサッカーをしていました。ここは誰でも使えるのでしょうか？サッカー教室会場候補が一つ増えた。

I asked a saleswoman that if there is a person who has handicap or not. But she said "Nobody is here. Everyone is fine".When returning home, I saw boys played football in an open space in the past it used for a funeral surround by a lot of observers.Is this space for everybody? I got another candidate area for football course.

前回は通信会社がSkypeに対応していなくて断念しました。今日は別の通信会社で何回か試すこと30分、ついにつながった！3か月ぶりに動く両親を見ました（笑）

The last day, I abandoned Skype because a communication company unable to deal with Skype. It took 30 minutes to try connection by another communicate company, finally I could connect! I saw my parents they were moving for the first time in three months.

3D-CTがある一方、転倒による骨折が伝統治療によって火傷状態になるケースもいます。5歳の男の子の右肘から下が火傷の痕のようになっていて、指は1本しかなく動かすことはできません。相当痛かっただろうに、前腕切断の再手術になるのでしょうか？

On the one hand they have 3D-CT on the other hand there is a case who had burn by traditional treatment after fracture be falling.The 5-years-boys' skin below the elbow looked like scar of burn, had one finger that couldn’t move.I suppose he felt quite a pain. Will he have a second operation?

ガーナの子たちは松葉杖を使うとき、体重を腋の下で支えています。日本では腋の下の神経を圧迫して手がしびれる可能性があるので、その様な使い方は指導されません。でも手がしびれるという子はいません。無意識に除圧しているからでしょうか？謎です。

Children in Ghana when they use crutches, support their body weight under the arms. In Japan, they were not instructed that kind of way because arms may lose the feeling by pushing a nerve.But, there are no children whose arms lose the feeling. Do they reduce pressure unconsciously? It is unsolvable puzzle.

理学療法士になるための行程、リハ病院の日常業務、担当ケースの回復過程、補装具の紹介等をたくさんの写真を使って紹介しました。ガーナでは卒業1年目は、日本の研修医のような扱いで働くそうです。日本のお母さんたちはバギーを使うと言ったら、ガーナの女性はみんなおんぶしている、手を抜いていると言っていました。女性は道具を使わず体を使って家事や育児をすることが当然のこととされている国なのですね。

I introduce them the way to physical therapy, daily routine work in a rehabilitation hospital, history of one of the case whom I in charge of, welfare items with many pictures.Ghanaian physical therapists work looks like an intern in Japan for a year after graduation. After I said that Japanese mothers use a buggy, they replied that They are lazy, every Ghanaian mothers carry a child on their back, It is natural to attend to housework and taking care child with their body instead of tools in Ghana.

今日はドイツとオランダから来ていた仲間の最終日。彼女たちには、愚痴をこぼしたり、ミーティングに協力してもらったり、気分転換に出かけたり、いろいろと助けてもらった有り難い存在でした。最終日はガーナ服で登場！ドレスがよく似合うこと!私もガーナ服作ろうっと。

Today is the end of the day of friends from Germany and Holland. They were important figure, I complained to them, let them cooperation to the meeting, go out in order to get a change of scenery, I was helped by them.The last day, they came wearing Ghanaian dress! They looked good in that dress! I will make Ghanaian dress.

謎が一つ解明されました。通りを歩いていると子どもたちに「オブロニ、コッコ！」と言われます。オブロニは外国人のこと。さて「コッコ？」って何？ニワトリ？ずっと疑問に思っていました。近所の人に聞いてみたら「コッコ」は赤という意味。白人女性＝ホワイトレディのことを赤い肌の人と言っているのだそうです。国が違うと色の表現も違うんだ。そして、ニワトリじゃなかったんだ。

A mystery became clear. When I walked street, I was said "Obroni cocco!" from children. "Obroni" means foreigner. How about "Cocco", "Chicken”? I have doubt since I came here. I asked neighborhood about that, "cocco" means red.They call white lady a person who has red skin. An expression of color is different between counties! And I'm not a chicken.

地域に密着して活動する協力隊員だからできる、村人の生活実態を調査しようという試み。今日は調査を始めたメンバーの中間報告の日。JICA関係者だけでなく、日本企業や国際機関に勤務されている方々など多くの日本人と意見交換ができました。私は計画が整ったら調査を始める予定です。

This is a new project to research on actual conditions of the inhabitants of village.Today, we had a briefing session of our interim reports. We had an exchange of opinions with many Japanese not only people involved in JICA, but also member of Japanese companies and an international agency.I'm going to start a research as soon as preparations are completed.

16人の新隊員がガーナにやってきました。教員、PCインストラクター、助産師、感染症対策、自動車整備、青少年活動など。人数が多くて顔と名前が一致しません。帰り道、道路を通行止めにしてお葬式をしていました。迂回路の狭い道が車で詰まってさあ大変。何でバス通りのど真ん中でセレモニーするかなぁ・・

New 16 volunteers came to Ghana. Their job fields ware teacher, PC instructor, maternity nurse, infection control, car mechanic, youth activities, and so on. I couldn't match their names with their faces.On my way home, People had a funeral right in the middle of a road. We were in big trouble because a narrow bypass was full of cars. I couldn't believe that a ceremony had held in the middle of the street that buses run on.

朝から職人さんがやって来て話していました。「レダーがない」とか。レター？誰かからの手紙かな？と思いました。しかしよく聞いてみると、「レザー」つまり革のことらしい。革がなくてはベルトや靴が作れません。遠くから来て朝から待って修理してもらえなかったお気の毒。それでも外来診療は8時から18時まで50数人対応！おつかれさまでした。

One of the technician came and talked in the morning. "No ledder?" I thought that they talked about a letter from someone. I heard carefully, made clear that they talked about “leather".We can't make belts and shoes without leathers. I felt sorry if a people who came far from here early in the morning couldn't get to repair.As for us, we saw more than 50 outpatients from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.!! Thanks for all our hard work.

大腿切断の20歳の青年。切断後、学校を休みたくなくて8年間片足と杖で生活していたそうです。20～40代男性達と話してみたら、ステップの高い乗り合いバス「トロトロ」にも乗っていたとのこと。たくましい！ 60代女性は屋内では、「車いすに乗って何でもやっていた」と話してくれました。義足がなくても生活自体は意外と何とかなっているという印象です。なぜ義足が欲しいと考えたのか、もう少し多くの人に聞いてみようと思います。

A 20-year-old man has amputated above knee. After amputation, he lived with one leg and crutches for 8 years because he didn't want to be absent from school.I talked with men between the ages of 20 and 50, they have taken a shared bus "trotro" that has high step. How powerful they are! An over 60-year-old lady talked to me "I Had done everything with wheelchair". Strangely enough, their lives came out all right without prostheses. I will talk with other people why they wanted to get prostheses.

子どもたちの集団体操を私が担当する時は、通常メニューの最後にミニゲームを組み入れています。じゃんけんは理解してくれたので、今日は「あっち向いてホイ」にチャレンジ。はじめは、「イチ、ニ、サン！」の掛け声に合わせて、集団を相手に私がやってみました。子どもたち同士2人組では難しかったので「集団あっち向いてホイ」にしたら楽しくできました。次は「じゃんけんポイ！あっち向いてホイ！」までできるように教え込んでみます！

When I am in charge of group exercise for children, I insert a mini game into the routine programs. They understood "Janken", so I try to teach them a "look that way" game. First, I led the game against a group of them with my shout "One, two, three!" It was difficult only for a pair of children, so we enjoyed a "looks this way group version" game. Next time, I will teach them to be able to do "rock-paper-scissors" and "look that way!" as a set.

プールでのエクササイズは小中学生男子に大人気。私の顔を見るたびに毎日7-8人が、「プールに入りたい！お願い！」と言ってきます。時間と安全の都合上、数が限られるので、今日誰が入れるかを決めるくじ引きをつくってみました。紙に書かれているのは「Today」と「Next week」。「Today」を引いた少年は大喜びで走り回っていました。「Next week」を引いた少年たち、来週まで我慢してね。

An exercise in the pool is popular among with male students. Every day, 7 or 8 children said to me "I want to swim, please!" every time we met. The number is limited because of the time and safety. Then, I made a drawing lot to decide that who will be able to swim today. I wrote "today" and "next week" in a few sheet of paper.Boys who got today run around, unable to contain their joy. Please restrain until next week.

体重70kg前後はあるかと思われる14歳の女の子。脳性麻痺に廃用症候群が加わり長下肢装具に似た下肢装具を付けて5分立つのが精いっぱいです。全身運動のために車いすで動いてもらうことにしました。車いすを自分で動かしてワニのいるところまで行こう！当施設には60年は生きているというワニがいます。何人もの子どもたちを見てきたのでしょうね。行き帰りで30分のドライブ、成し遂げました。

I took care of a 14-year-old girl whose body weight is about 70 kg. It is all she can stand for 5 minutes putting on orthoses looks like "Knee ankle foot orthoses" because of cerebral palsy and disuse syndrome.I let her drive a wheelchair for her whole body exercise. Let's drive a wheelchair to the crocodile! We have a cage for a crocodile lives for 60 years. I suppose he have seen many children. She accomplishes her 30 minutes’ drive going there and back.

同期のボランティアが遊びに来てくれました！地元のマーケット、電車の駅、配属先の子どもたち、街を見下ろせる高台をご案内。夕飯のメニューは、ごはん、肉じゃが、パパイヤ＆ツナ炒め。第2ドミトリーとしてまたのご来店おまちしてます。

A contemporary of me visit my home!I guided her to a local market, a train station, children of my workplace and a hill we can give a sweeping view over the town.The menu of todays’ dinner is steamed rice, meat and potato, fried papaya with tuna. I'm looking forward to you coming for my home again.

A solar eclipse is seen on today in African countries include Ghana. The sky became a little bit dark that like twilight though it was at one o'clock.I saw the shadow through the pinhole in a paper, I was able to see it a crescent-shaped! Today is a fine day that I was felt a little happiness.

121日目、くじ引き
プールでのエクササイズは小中学生男子に大人気。私の顔を見るたびに毎日7-8人が、「プールに入りたい！お願い！」と言ってきます。時間と安全の都合上、数が限られるので、今日誰が入れるかを決めるくじ引きをつくってみました。紙に書かれているのは「Today」と「Next week」。「Today」を引いた少年は大喜びで走り回っていました。「Next week」を引いた少年たち、来週まで我慢してね。
Oct 31st (121 days) Drawing lots
An exercise in the pool is popular among with male students. Every day, 7 or 8 children said to me "I want to swim, please!" every time we met. The number is limited because of the time and safety. Then, I made a drawing lot to decide that who will be able to swim today. I wrote "today" and "next week" in a few sheet of paper.Boys who got today run around, unable to contain their joy. Please restrain until next week.
122日目、ワニを見に行こう
体重70kg前後はあるかと思われる14歳の女の子。脳性麻痺に廃用症候群が加わり長下肢装具に似た下肢装具を付けて5分立つのが精いっぱいです。全身運動のために車いすで動いてもらうことにしました。車いすを自分で動かしてワニのいるところまで行こう！当施設には60年は生きているというワニがいます。何人もの子どもたちを見てきたのでしょうね。行き帰りで30分のドライブ、成し遂げました。
Nov 1st (122 days) Let's go to see a crocodile
I took care of a 14-year-old girl whose body weight is about 70 kg. It is all she can stand for 5 minutes putting on orthoses looks like "Knee ankle foot orthoses" because of cerebral palsy and disuse syndrome.I let her drive a wheelchair for her whole body exercise. Let's drive a wheelchair to the crocodile! We have a cage for a crocodile lives for 60 years. I suppose he have seen many children. She accomplishes her 30 minutes’ drive going there and back.

同期のボランティアが遊びに来てくれました！地元のマーケット、電車の駅、配属先の子どもたち、街を見下ろせる高台をご案内。夕飯のメニューは、ごはん、肉じゃが、パパイヤ＆ツナ炒め。第2ドミトリーとしてまたのご来店おまちしてます。

A contemporary of me visit my home!I guided her to a local market, a train station, children of my workplace and a hill we can give a sweeping view over the town.The menu of todays’ dinner is steamed rice, meat and potato, fried papaya with tuna. I'm looking forward to you coming for my home again.

今日はガーナを含め、アフリカ諸国で日食がみられる日。まだ昼の１時なのに外がちょっと夕方っぽい明るさに。紙にピンホールを開けて影で見てみたら、三日月形に見えた！小さな幸せを感じられた１日でした。

A solar eclipse is seen on today in African countries include Ghana. The sky became a little bit dark that like twilight though it was at one o'clock.I saw the shadow through the pinhole in a paper, I was able to see it a crescent-shaped! Today is a fine day that I was felt a little happiness.
