`Hachiman Jinja` throughout the country.
When the Emperor Ojin (Hondawakenomikoto) conquered the country, it's said that it was a dove was his pilot. Thereafter, the dove was considered to be "a messanger of the Hachimanjin".
When praying for the coming of the Emperor Ojin*(Hachimanjin) from Usa Hachimangu(Oita Prefecture) to Iwashimizu Hachimangu(Kyoto Prefecture), a story tells that a dove gave guidance too but details for the source of the story remains unclear.
It's a messanger of the gods possessing a strong love, peace, consciousness of the harmony and, sometimes, offers romantic advice, too.
