あなたがたは何を食べようかと
自分の命のことを心配したり、
また何を着ようかと、
自分の体のことを心配してはいけません。
Jesus said to his disciples:
Therefore I tell you,
Do not worry about your life,
what you will eat;
or about your body,
what you will wear.
命は食べ物よりもはるかに大切ですし、
体は服よりもはるかに大切ではありませんか。
あなたがたの中で
だれかが心配したからといって、
自分の命を少しでも延ばすことができますか。
Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
アネモネの花がどのようにして育つか
考えてみなさい。
自分のために服を作るわけではありません。
そして確かに、
栄華を窮めたソロモン（旧約聖書に出て来た裕福な王様）でさえも、
この一つの花ほど美しい服を持っていたとは言えません。
Consider how the lilies and wildflowers grow. They don't labor or spin.
Yet, I tell you,
not even Solomon (a rich and famous kind of Israel in the Old Testament)
in all his slendor
was dressed like one of these.
今日は野にあって、
明日は炉に投げ込まれてしまう野の草でさえ、
神様はこれほど美しい装いをお与えになっておられるのですから、
まして人間であるあなたがたに
それ以上のことをしてくださらないわけがあるでしょうか。
