1948年1月30日、印・パ戦争の最中に インド独立
の父 マハトマ・ガンデｲーが 暗殺されました。
ガンディーの体に３発の銃弾を撃ち込んだ男は
ナートｳーラーム・ゴードセー(Nathuram Godse)
という名 の ヒンドｳー原理主義者であった、と
いいます。
この男については あまりよく知られていません。
2019年11月15日付 India Today の記事に この
男の情報が 少しですが 掲載されています。
ちょっと覗いてみることにいたしましょう。
Nathurame Vinayak Godse (1910-1949)
「ゴードセーについては 彼が ガンデｲーを殺したという
事実以外には あまりよく知られていない。
で、ナートｳーラーム・ヴィナヤク・ゴードセー (Nathuram
Vinayaky Godse) について みなさんが 知っておくべき
ことを 以下の通り 箇条書きにした。
１．ゴードセーが生れた時に付けられていた名前はラーマチャンドラであった。では、なぜ ナートｳーラーム という名前になったのか。
・ナートｳーラームという名前になったのには 甚だ
興味を惹く背景がある。
・彼には ３人の兄弟と妹が１人いた。
が、３人の兄弟は みんな 幼くして亡くなった。
・一家の男の子には 呪いが纏わりついていると 両親は
信じた。
・で、ナートｳーラームが生れた時、彼は女の子として育
てられたのだ。
・で、2, 3 歳になるまで 彼は 女子として鼻ﾘﾝｸﾞ
(Nath) を付けさせられていた。
・これが Nathuram,つまり ナートｳーラーム という
名前になった由縁である。
・で、彼の両親は 次の男の子が生れた時に彼を男の子と
して育てることにしたのだ。
２．学生時代、彼は 驚くほど ガンデｲーを 尊敬していた、と
いう。彼は ガンデｲー の不従順運動にさえ加わっていた。
３．インド道立運動に際しては 彼は 学校を中退して ヒンドｳ
原理主義の民族義勇団 と ヒンドｳー大連盟の活動家になる決心をした。
４．当時、彼は 知識人として認められており、ヴァー・サヴ
ァカｱの思想を信奉していた。
５．彼は 暗殺の共犯者となる ナラヤン・アプテ と共同で
新聞アグラニ紙の発行をしており、編集長でもあり 記事寄
稿者でもあった。
６．彼は ガンデｲーが 国内のイスラム人、特に ジンナーに対し余りにも寛容であることに イライラを募らせていた、という。
７．彼は ガンデｲーが インドを ２国に分割 (ﾋﾝﾄﾞｳーのｲﾝﾄﾞ とｲｽﾗﾑの ﾊﾟｷｽﾀﾝに分割) することを支持していることに到底耐えられなかった、と思われる。
８．1948年1月30日午後5時17分、夕刻の祈りの時間に 彼はガンデｲーに近寄り、胸に３発の銃弾を撃ち込んだ。
９．裁判の結果、彼と共犯者 ナラヤン・アプテは 1949年11月15日絞首刑に処せられた。」
(Not much is known about Godse except for the fact that he killed Gandhi.
We have here a list of facts that you should know about Nathuram Vinayak Godse ：
1. Godse was named Ramachandra at birth.
Then, why was he named Nathuram ?
- There's a very interesting story behind his being named Nathuram.
- Nathuram had three brothers and a sister, with all of the three boys dying in their infancy.
- Nathuram's parents believed that there's a curse circling the male children of the family
- When Nathuram was born, he was brought up like a girl
- He was even made to wear a nose-ring (Nath in Marathi) for the first few years of his life.
- This is how he earned the name Nathuram
- His parents switched to treating him as a boy when his younger brother was born
2. It is said that during his school days, Nathu had tremendous respect for Gandhi. He had even followed Gandhi in his civil disobedience movement.
4. He was known as a very learned man of his time. Godse believed in the ideology of Vir Savarkar.
5. Godse ran a newspaper named Agrani, along with his partner in crime Narayan Apte. He was the editor of the newspaper and even wrote articles for it.
6. It is said that Godse was upset with Gandhi being extremely generous to the Muslim population of the country, especially Jinnah.
7. It is also believed that Godse couldn't stand the fact Gandhi was supporting India's division into two parts.
8. Godse approached Gandhi on January 30, 1948 during the evening prayer at 5:17 pm. He shot Gandhi in the chest three times.
9. Following a trial, Godse and Apte were hanged on November 15 in the year 1949. )
