世の中には 知っていて有益な知識と 知らなくとも
何の不都合もない知識があります。
ここで紹介するのは後者ですが、話のネタにはなる
のではないでしょうか。

「(1) ヒト は キノコ と 仲間である ：
ｹﾝﾌﾞﾘｯｼﾞ大学が 2015年に発表した研究結果に
よれば、人類は植物起源の遺伝子で進化を遂げて
きたと考えられる、という。
この発見を受け、研究者たちは ヒトの染色体の
約 1% 程度は 植物起源であろうと 考え始めた。
ということは、古い先祖の叔父は 自分のことを
ずっと "キノコ" だと称していたのだろうか。
或る意味で それは 的を射ていた、といえる。
(2) だが、危惧すること勿れ ー わたしたちの体
のなかには 沢山の DNA がある ：
ヒトの遺伝子の中には 30億のDNAがあり、染色体
の中には 2万5千以上の遺伝子があるであろう、と
科学者たちは予測している。
ヒトの体の10兆の各細胞の中に全く同じ型の染色体
があり、もし すべての DNA を並べると 地球と太陽
の距離の100倍に達する、という。
(3) ほかの惑星では ダイヤモンドが降るかも ：
ダイヤモンドは間違いなく 銀河系の賜物である。
海王星、天王星、木星、土星ではダイヤモンドが
できる筈だというので その可能性につき研究が
なされた。上記の４つの惑星では 極度に気圧が
高いため 炭素元素が結晶化し ダイヤモンドに
変化する、というのだ。
研究室で 極度に高い気圧の状況を作ることに
成功し、海王星と天王星で 炭素元素が結晶化
することが証明された。
他の研究班は 土星の或る場所では 毎年 220万
ポンドものダイヤモンドが降り注いでいるかも知れ
ない、と推測している ー なんとも豪勢な科学的
事象ではないか。
(4) ボールは 揚力をつけて飛ばせる ：
ボールを落とす時に 回転をつけると そのボール
に揚力がつき 空中を飛ぶようにして落ちてゆく。
これは マグナム効果と言われ、テニスやサッカー
を とても 親しみ易いスポーツにしている。
(5) 水は 同時に 気体・液体・固体 になれる ：
この現象を トリプル・ボイル という。
その気温下で 水は 同時に 気体・液体・固体の
三様態になることができる。
トリプル・ボイルは特殊な条件が必要である。
おめおめ 家庭で やってみようなどとは考えては
いけない。
(6) 哺乳類で唯一 翼を持ったものがいる ：
その哺乳類というのは コウモリである。
ムササビは 木から木へ飛び移ったり滑空する
ことができるが、コウモリのように 本当に飛ぶ
ことはできない。」
(1) Humans are related to Fungi ：
A 2015 study from the University of Cambridge suggests
that mankind may have evolved with genes that came from
plants. Because of those findings, researchers accept that
about one per cent of the human genome could have been
acquired from plants. So all those times your corny uncle
called himself a “fungi” ? He was actually sort of right.
(2) But don't worry ー We Have A Lot Of DNA ：
Scientists predict that there are over three billion base
pairs of DNA in human genes and over 25,000 genes in
the human genome. An entire copy of that genome exists
in each of the 10 trillion cells in the human body. If all of
that DNA were lined up, it would cover the distance
between Earth and the sun 100 times.
(3) It Can Rain Diamonds On Other Planets ：
Diamonds are definitely the Milky Way galaxy’s best friends.
Studies have examined the potential that Neptune, Uranus,
Jupiter and Saturn have to produce diamonds.
The atmospheres in all four planets have such extreme
pressure that they can crystalize carbon atoms and turn
them into diamonds. Scientists were able to create the
correct conditions in a lab to prove this occurs on Neptune
and Uranus. Separately, a different group of researchers
speculates that it may rain as much as 2.2 million pounds
of diamonds on parts of Saturn every year—definitely the
richest of our science facts !
(4) You Can Make Balls Fly ：
If you spin a ball when you drop it, it will fly through the
air as it falls. This is called the Magnus effect, and it
makes playing tennis and soccer a whole lot easier.
(5) Water Can Exist In Three States At Once ：
This is called the Triple Boil, and at that temperature,
water exists as a gas, a liquid and a solid simultaneously.
It requires very specific conditions to achieve, so don’t
even think about trying it at home.
(6) Only One Type Of Mammal Has Wings ：
Those mammals would be bats. While flying squirrels can
jump from trees and glide, they can’t truly fly like bats can.
