ジョン・レノンがいない25年が過ぎました。
彼が生きていたら、どんな世界になっていたかなんて、
考えても仕方ありませんが、
何か変わったのかもしれませんし、
何も変わらなかったのかもしれません。

当時、多感な時期にいた僕は、
あるバンドに夢中になり、
その日（日本では12月9日）、
日本武道館でのライブに熱狂していました。

レノンが死んだということを知ったのは、
ライブの後でした。
何となく、大切な人がいなくなってしまった。
そんな、気持ちだったように思います。
当時の僕には人の死が遠くにあったのです。

“ビートルズ”の楽曲は何曲か聞いて知っていましたが、
それほど、でもなく、もちろん“ビートルズ”自体も、
物心がついた頃には解散し、
彼らの活動についても知りませんでした。

年齢を重ねて、よく聴くようになり、
その後、盟友“ジョージ・ハリスン”の来日には、
東京ドームまで足を運びました。
その彼もまた、伝説になってしまいました。

60～70年代に活躍した人たちの多くが、
伝説になってしまいました。

しかし、作品は残り、
僕たちに語りかけてくれます。

ジョンといえば、やはりこの曲です。
