December 19 ①
I went for a walk around the Fushimi Inari area to see what it’s like these days.
It was probably my first time in about 12 years.
The area in front of the Keihan station was absolutely packed with people.
The road really should be kept clear down the middle, but it felt like the crowd control wasn’t working very well.
Many of the shops around the area reminded me of Nishiki Market these days—places with menus clearly aimed at foreign tourists.
I won’t go into too much detail, but personally, it’s not an area I find easy to recommend.
Of course, there are still some traditional spots, like shops where you can eat things such as grilled sparrows, but I feel it’s hard for overseas visitors to tell which places are which.
After visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine, I didn’t hike all the way up the mountain, but when I entered the area where the torii gates line up endlessly, there were so many people taking photos.
Well, you can’t blame them—it really makes you want to take pictures in that atmosphere.
By the way, if you visit at night, please be careful. I know of two groups who have spotted wild boars there so far.

伏見稲荷付近の現状を見に散歩してきました
たぶん12年振りくらいですね
京阪の駅前には人が溢れかえっていました。道路は真ん中は開けたほうがいいですが、少し規制が効いていない感じがしました
また周りのお店は最近の錦市場のような、少し海外観光客をターゲットにしたようなメニューのお店が並んでいて、あまり説明はしませんが、僕はおすすめしにくい（もちろん、昔ながらのスズメの焼いたやつとか食べれるお店なんかもあるのですが、海外の方には見分け難しいと感じます）
伏見稲荷を参拝した後、上には登らなかったけど、鳥居がずらっと並ぶエリアに入ると、本当にたくさんの人たちが写真を撮ってました
そりゃ、撮りたくなりますよね、この雰囲気
ちなみに夜に来ると今まで2組、イノシシを目撃した人がいるので、お気をつけ下さい

【What I’ve been eating out in Kyoto over the past two months！】
So many great set-meal spots — I’m really enjoying them.
Recently, I’ve been loving udon.
And with Kyoto being full of bakeries, this is my favorite bread right now.

A friend I’ve known since my university days stayed at the guesthouse, so we spent the day wandering around Kyoto together.
We met up with another friend at Kyoto Station, had okonomiyaki, then visited some of Kyoto’s classic famous spots—Sanjusangendo, the area around Kiyomizu-dera, and To-ji Temple.
We ended the day with coffee at a retro cafe and then I saw them off at Kyoto Station.
Being able to talk just like old times with close friends I’ve known for so long makes me truly happy.
Everyone, please come and visit Kyoto!
⭐︎Especially in January and February, it’s the off-season so rooms are easier to book—and Kyoto is absolutely beautiful in winter too.

大学時代からの仲間がゲストハウスに泊まってくれたので、京都をぶらぶらしました
京都駅でもう1人合流して、お好み焼きを食べた後、三十三間堂、清水寺周辺、そして東寺と、王道のような京都の有名どころをまわりました
最後はレトロな喫茶店でコーヒー飲んで、京都駅で見送りました
気心のしれた仲間と昔と変わらず話ができることはとても幸せです
みなさん、ぜひ京都に遊びに来て下さい
※特に1、2月は閑散期で部屋の予約がとりやすいですが、京都は冬もとてもキレイですよ

This year’s autumn leaves at Guesthouse Koiya, the sister guesthouse of Guesthouse Kingyoya (a 10-minute walk from Kingyoya).
They are absolutely beautiful!
Just like Kingyoya, Koiya is a traditional old Japanese house.
The view of the autumn leaves from the shared space was especially stunning.
In the past, people didn’t create inner gardens only to enjoy their beauty, but also to keep their minds calm and peaceful.
You can easily stay in a historic Kyoto townhouse here, so please come and relax.
Especially in January and February, both guesthouses are in the low season, so discounts are available and it’s much easier to make a reservation — highly recommended!

素晴らしくきれいですね
ここも金魚家同様に昔ながらの古民家で共有部屋から見る紅葉の景色はとても素敵でした
昔の人たちはただキレイな庭を楽しむだけでなく、心を平穏に保つためにこういった中庭を造ったそうです

December 1st Walk
On this day as well, I was wandering around from the morning when I came across something surprising on Shijo Street — a shop owned by the genius jockey, Christophe Lemaire.
The shop was decorated with congratulatory flower stands from jockey Yutaka Take, and on the first floor there was a cafe displaying trophies from G1 race victories.
The second floor sells clothing and stylish merchandise related to Lemaire.
It’s a very fashionable place.
From there, I headed to Teramachi Street in Shijo.
The ginkgo tree at Honnoji Temple along Teramachi Street was beautifully colored.
On the way back, I wandered around the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
Among the beautiful autumn leaves, I was surprised to find cherry blossoms in bloom.
When I asked someone nearby, he told me it was a rare type of cherry tree that blooms over a long period, from around September to February.
With fewer tourists around, the Kyoto Imperial Palace is a wonderful place for a slow and relaxing walk.
12月1日の散歩
この日も朝からフラフラと歩いてたら四条で発見したのは、なんと天才騎手クリストフ・ルメールののお店。
武豊騎手からのお祝いの花が飾られた店舗は一階がカフェG1レースを勝利した時のトロフィーなどが飾られていて、2階は服などが売られてるのに加えて、ルメール選手のグッズが扱われてるオシャレな店
そこから四条の寺町通りへ
寺町通りにある本能寺の銀杏がきれいでした
帰りは京都御所をウロウロ
キレイな紅葉の木々の中になんと桜が咲いてるのを発見
近くにいた人に聞いたら、9月から2月くらいまでかけて咲く変わった桜だそうです
少し観光客の少なくなった京都御所はゆっくり散歩するにはとてもいいですよ
