Today, a professional gardener took care of the courtyard at Guesthouse Kingyoya.
They trimmed and shaped the trees, and now it looks very clean and refreshed.
We would love for you to also enjoy the courtyard at night, when it is beautifully lit up.
By the way, I took some photos of the goldfish at Kingyoya as well.

Our monthly “Charity” event was held at “Butsugu & Cafe feel the ZEN,” a place that always takes care of us.
“Charity” is a coined word combining “charity” and “cha” (tea).
It’s an event to collect donations for areas affected by major earthquakes and other disasters, where matcha is served and the proceeds are donated.
Currently, it is held in Chiba, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara.
This time, a family from France who were staying at our guesthouse came to visit.
This seated-style tea room is a formal style that began around 100 years ago at a World Expo.
The cafe also has a tea room and a rock garden, and guests were able to go inside and explore them.
We hold this event every month, so please feel free to come by.
Donations start from 500 yen, including sweets and matcha, making it a very accessible way to experience tea ceremony culture.

毎月恒例の茶利ティーがいつもお世話になってる「仏具と喫茶 feel the ZEN」で行われました
※茶利ティーはチャリティーと茶利を合わせた造語で、大きな地震などが起きた地域への寄付を集めるイベントで、お抹茶を振る舞い代金を被災地に寄付されています。今は千葉や東京、また京都や奈良で行われています
今回はゲストハウスに泊まっていたフランスからの家族が来てくれました
この座るスタイルの茶室は今から100年くらい前の万博で始まった、正式なスタイルの茶室です
またこのカフェには茶室や石庭もあり、実際に上がってもらって、いろいろ見てもらいました
毎月やってますので、ぜひお越し下さい
寄付はお菓子とお抹茶で500円からと、茶の湯文化をとても気軽に体験できますよ

At Shiramine Shrine in Kyoto, kemari—a traditional Japanese cultural practice that has been carefully preserved—was performed.
Kemari has a history of around 1,400 years.
It is a game in which players stand in a circle and kick a ball made of deer leather, trying to keep it from touching the ground.
There is no competition or winner; instead, the focus is on grace and harmony.
It began as a pastime of aristocrats during the Heian period.
At Shiramine Shrine, kemari is offered to the gods every year in April and July.
Participants wear traditional court attire and perform the game in an elegant manner.
This serves both as a ritual offering and as a way of preserving cultural heritage.
The shrine is also known as a place connected to the “god of soccer,” so many visitors come to pray for improvement in sports. (There was also an illustration by Yoichi Takahashi, the creator of Captain Tsubasa.)

京都にある白峯神宮で、日本の伝統文化で大切に受け継がれている蹴鞠（けまり）が行われました
蹴鞠は1400年くらいの歴史があり、鹿の革でできたボールを地面に落とさないように、円になって蹴り合う遊びで、勝ち負けはなく、美しさや呼吸を合わせることが重視されます。平安時代の貴族の遊びとして始まりました。
白峯神宮では、毎年4月や7月などに蹴鞠の奉納が行われ、伝統的な装束を着た人たちが優雅に蹴鞠を披露します。これは神様への奉納であり、文化の継承の意味もあります。
サッカーの神様としても知られる神社なので、スポーツ上達を願う人も多く訪れます（キャプテン翼の高橋陽一先生の描いた絵もありました）

April 11 – Kyoto Prefectural Police Heian Mounted Unit Event (Photos)
At this event, the younger horses were also very active.
In the past, many of the mounted police horses came from thoroughbreds, but in recent years, younger horses bred specifically for riding have been trained from scratch and are now playing an active role.
The 2- and 3-year-old horses still have a youthful look in their eyes, which makes them incredibly cute.
The 3-year-old horses performed impressively alongside the senior horses, showing a routine in sync with the whistle in front of the audience.
After that, the 2-year-old horses, once released into the paddock, became very affectionate with their handlers and charmed the visitors with their friendly and adorable behavior.
There are a total of six horses in the unit, and they can generally be seen all year round.
They are based in Takaragaike Park, so if you like horses, it’s definitely worth a visit.
4月11日 京都府警察・平安騎馬隊のイベント（動画）
この日のイベントでは若い馬たちも大活躍
今まではサラブレッドから騎馬隊に入る流れが多かったのですが、ここ数年は若い乗馬用に掛け合わされた馬たちが1から訓練を受けて、活躍してます
2歳馬、3歳馬はまだ目が幼い感じがして、とてもかわいいんですよね
3歳の馬は先輩の馬と一緒に立派に笛に合わせた演技をお客さんの前で見せてくれて、その後に放牧された2歳馬はもう厩務員さんにデレデレで、お客さんにも愛嬌よく、可愛い姿を見せつけてくれました
総勢6頭の馬たちが所属していて、基本的に年中無休で見ることができます
宝ヶ池公園にいますので、馬が好きな人はぜひ行って見て下さい

2026/04/15 平安騎馬隊のイベント
On April 11, I went to an event by the Kyoto Prefectural Police Mounted Unit.
This event was held to celebrate the successful crowdfunding campaign for the horses.
We could watch the horses running in sync with the officers’ commands, and there were displays of saddles, horse transport vehicles, and even police cars.
We also got to see the horses relaxing in the pasture.
It was a lively event with many people attending.
