expire 期間満了する
契約の期間が確定していてその期間が満了して効力を失う場合、「満了」といい、英語ではexpiration, expireを使います。
The term of contract shall expire on the end of April, 2011.
本契約の期間は2011年4月末に満了する。
termination 契約終了
terminate 終了する
契約の期間を仕切る意味があり、expireやterminateと代替的に使えます。
This contract may be terminated at any time by either party sending a notice to the other.
本契約は、何時にでも、一方当事者より他方当事者に通知を送ることにより、解除することができる。
cancellation 解除
cancel 解除する
一方当事者が契約を「解除」（一定時点から将来に向けて失効）する場合、cancellation, cancelを使います。
Ｅｉｔｈｅｒ of the parties hereto may cancel the Contract by sending notice to the other party if the other party breach any provision of this Contract.
各契約当事者は、相手方が本契約の条項に違反したときは、他方当事者に通知を送付して、本契約を解除することができる。

一定の事態が生じたときに、その効力を失効させて元の状態に戻す場合にrecind, recessionを使います。

本契約は、要求されている政府認可が得られない場合、各当事者により効力を喪失させられることができる。
