日本では本日3日、Eテレで猿翁さんの追悼番組が放送予定です
残念ながら、ハワイでは観ることが叶いませんが、猿翁さんの芝居作りに対する姿勢、何事も勉強だということを学ばせていただいたことを改めて思い出していました
芝居のない月は軽井沢のお宅で過ごしていた猿翁さんでしたが、一日に2、3本の映画をご覧になるんです
中には「つまらない」ものもありました
すると猿翁さんは「なぜつまらないのか…」ということを徹底的に探ります
こんな姿勢から数々の名作が生まれたのですね
すべてが勉強なのだとその姿から学ばせていただきました

Sorry I can’t watch the program here in Hawaii.
I’ve been recalling the days I spent near him and here’s something I have learned from him.
He would spend his off time at his home in Karuizawa and watch two to three movies a day.
They were mostly good movies, but some “boring” ones, of course.
He showed strong interest to such movies and discussed about the points made them boring.
Through his passions towards making excellent plays, I learned everything is a lesson.
