2019年にワークショップで教えたクラスの一人、ジュリアから、突然「『新・水滸伝』のポスターを見ました」と連絡がありました
なんと今日本の大学院に留学しているそう
明るくポジティブに一生懸命学ぼうとしていた姿勢は、強く印象に残っています
劇場の経営に興味があるとのことで、日本で改めて経営を学んでいるそうです
でもうれしいことにあの歌舞伎の授業が大学の授業の中で最も好きな授業のひとつだったと言ってくれました
ハワイ大学で教えた歌舞伎のクラスから皆それぞれの世界に羽ばたいていく姿、なんだか頼もしいし、うれしいなぁ
彼らに明るい未来が待っていますように！

Julia sent me a message that she had seen me on the poster of “Shin Sangokushi”.
She was one of the students I taught at Summer Workshop in the University of Hawaii in 2019.
To my surprise, she is in Tokyo now studying masters in management.
I remember her well because she was a very cheerful positive person in learning.
Her words “it was one of my favorite classes I’ve ever taken. So much fun.” made me truly happy.
I feel very privileged that the students studied Kabuki with me fly to the future all over the world.
May their futures be filled with happiness!
