Japanese sweets called “Toka” from Hirosaki, Aomori.

As my wife and daughter saw a TV program about a Japanese confectionery shop of a long history in Hirosaki, they were mesmerized by the simple sweets the old owner was making and asked my sister to get one.

It’s light and crispy covered with “wasanbon”, Japanese traditional refined sugar.

Simple but refined and somehow or another, you feel like nostalgic, though it’s the first time to try it.

You can clearly tell the affection of the owner of the shop towards what what he makes and how gently and carefully he makes one by one.

Can’t stop eating!

Wish Hirosaki was much closer to Tokyo…
