さて今日はお稽古場で最も忙しい人物、猿之助さんについてお話しましょう。
猿之助さんはおじさまの猿翁さんがスーパー歌舞伎を演出した時のように代役に自分の役をさせ、自分は演出家の席に座り、あらゆる点に注意を払います。
おじさまの時と違うのはそのフットワークの軽さです。立ち回りや演技、音楽に注文をつけたかと思うと我々と冗談を言い合って大笑いをしたりしています。こんな笑いの中から新しいアイディアが生まれることもあります。もちろん演出を悩み、私たちに意見を求めることもあります。
猿之助さんは鋭いナイフのように頭が切れますが、同時に子供のような無邪気さも持ち合わせています。これが恐らく猿之助さんを魅力的にする所以でしょう。
