笑也さんは市川猿翁さんの部屋子の一人です。部屋子は幹部俳優の下で礼儀や芝居を学ぶことができます。
彼、錦之助さんと私の三人は同じ歳。よく猿翁さんに「不器用だ」と言われたものです。
しかしそれは昔の話。笑也さんは今では若くて美しい女方になりました。
