生徒にはテストで良い点をとれ、難関校に合格しろと言う一方で、自分は難関校に合格できもしなかったなんて喜劇でしかない。
なんで教師が生徒の着る服、髪型、持ち物を決めるのが当たり前なんだろう？世界中を見ても、そんな「非民主的」な運営をしている学校なんて無いだろうに。少なくとも私の教えていたアメリカのローガン中学校は全然違った。
クラスなんて無いし、部活もない。夏休みは３か月。制服もなければ、化粧も自由。学校の売店でチョコレートやキャンディーを売っていた。
「人と同じことをしてちゃ駄目だよ」
って、教えていた。

It is a comedy that teachers tell their students to get good scores in tests and to pass the entrance exam of difficult schools, but they themselves could not even pass the entrance exam of difficult schools.
Why is it so natural for teachers to decide what students should wear, how they should do their hair, and what they should bring with them? I don't think there is any school in the world that operates in such an "undemocratic" manner. At least Logan Middle School in the US, where I taught, was totally different.
There were no classes, no club activities. Summer vacation is three months. No uniforms, no makeup. They sold chocolate and candy at the school store.
"Don't do what other people do," they taught us.
