長年受験指導を行っていると、小手先の“受験対策”を行っている生徒は心から英語や数学が好きな生徒には勝てないことが分かってくる。学校の与える問題集をノルマを作って地道にやっている子は、好きでもないのに無理していると学力が伸びない。
逆に、学校のカリキュラムを無視して好きで勉強している生徒も多い。開成、灘、ラサールといった特殊な高校以外は、旧帝対策のカリキュラムなど作らない。ここ三重県の県立ナンバーワンの四日市高校でも地元三重大より少し下のレベルで授業が進む。
本気で医者になりたい、研究者になりたい、と思う生徒でないと旧帝や国立大医学部など合格できない。その情熱に見合った問題集やカリキュラムを自分で作る気概の無い生徒は高見をめざしても実現できない。
After many years of teaching entrance examinations, I have come to realize that students who are doing minor "exam preparation" cannot compete with students who truly love English and mathematics.
Students who steadily work their way through the school's quota of problems will not grow academically if they are forced to do so even if they don't like it.
On the other hand, there are many students who ignore the school curriculum and study because they like it.
Except for special high schools such as Kaisei, Nada, and LaSalle, they do not make any curriculum to prepare students for the old Imperial University.
Even here at Yokkaichi High School, the number one prefectural high school in Mie Prefecture, classes are taught at a slightly lower level than at the local Mie University.
Students who do not have a serious desire to become a doctor or researcher will not be able to pass the entrance exam for the former imperial university or the medical school of a national university.
Students who do not have the will to create their own curriculum and problem sets that match their passion will not be able to achieve their goals even if they aim high.
