六角堂には鳩がたくさんいます。
There are hundreds of pigeons at Rokkakudo.
六角堂には「鳩みくじ」なんていう、かわいいものもあります。
You can buy "Hato Mikuji",
Hato means pigeon and Mikuji means written fortune.
このおみくじを引いて、柳の枝に結び付けて
縁結びの願掛けをします。
It has been believed that
tying the Hato Mikuji to a willow tree
in the temple ground
brings you a partner.
この鳩はとても人に慣れていて、
先日、5月のツアーの準備のため
六角堂へ行き、ベンチに座ってメモをとっていたら、
頭と肩と背中に、鳩がのってきました。
They are used to human beings.
Last week I visited there to prepare
for a tour in May.
When I sat on a bench to take a memo,
some pigeons sat on my head, back, and shoulder.
あの時、私は「日本で一番鳩になつかれていた人」
だったと思います。
At that moment, I was the most beloved person
by pigeons in Japan, I guess. HHH
残念ながらその時の画像はありませんが、
似たような目にあっている方を
境内で発見しました。
I don't have a picture of the situation,
but realise that some statues were
having a similar experience.

ニコニコ笑っていらっしゃいますが、
鳩の爪はわりと痛いです。(^_^;)
While they were smiling,
the nails of the pigeons were priclky.
こちらは「十六羅漢」さまといいます。
「羅漢」は、仏の教えを護り、伝えることが
できる優秀なお坊さんのこと。
Those are "16 Rakans".
Rakan means the special monk who follows
the teaching of Buddha deeply
and passes them on to people.
ツアーの準備で六角堂に伺うたび
暖かいパワーを感じています。
Whenever I visit Rokkakudo,
I feel a warm and powerful atmosphere.
