久々に、「今日の単語」いきます！
単語の数が減ってきているので、その単語が出てきた文を書き出します。
今日は、Government&NPOのテキスト(Accounting for Governmental & Nonprofit Entities, written by Wilson, Reck, and Kattelus)から、
"Consequently, governmental financial reporting focuses on a government's stewardship of public resources, ongoing ability ot raise taxes and manage resources, and compliance with legal spending limits, rather than on information about earnings."
短い文を選びたかったけど、長い文しかなかった。
赤字が新しい単語、Stewardship、名詞で処理、管理、運営、世話という意味のようです。
"Essentially, governmental activities encompass the executive, legislative, and judicial functions of the government as well as major service functions such as public safety, public works, parks and recreation, health and human services, and cultural activities."
encompassという単語、前にも何度か辞書を引いた記憶はある。まだ覚えてなかったよ・・。
これは動詞で、取り囲む、取り巻く、包む、・・・を包含する、達成する、やり遂げるという意味があるらしい。
