A snowy owlet #1. シロフクロウのヒナ#1

Two pairs of snowy owls lived in “Tama Zoological Park”.
「多摩動物公園」には、二組のシロフクロウさんがいたです。

One couple lives across from the “Flying Cage”.
一組は、「フライング・ケージ」の向かいに住んでるです。

They didn’t have any experience in raising owlets.
彼らは、ヒナを育てたことがありません。

They are very close, and sometimes I’ve often seen them mating.
彼らは、とても仲良しで、よく、エッチしてるのを見かけたです。

The female snowy owl made a nest, laid some eggs, and protected eggs in her nest.
女の子は巣を作り、卵を産んで、卵を抱いてたです。

I think they hoped strongly that their eggs would hatch.
彼らは、卵が孵化するのを切望してたと思うです。

But their eggs always didn’t hatch.
だけど、いつも、彼らの卵は、孵らなかったです。



Another couple lived some doors away.
もう一組は、数件隣に住んでたです。

To date, they had grown seven owlets.
彼らは、今までに、7羽のヒナを育てたです。

Mom Snowy Owl laid 6 eggs in this season.
今シーズン、シロフクロウのお母さんは、卵をむっつ生んだです。

The first egg and the second egg hatched in the middle of last month.
最初の卵と、二番めの卵は、先月の中ごろに孵化したです。

The third egg hatched on the 20th of last month.
三番目の卵は、20日に孵化したです。

But I heard that the third owlet was seriously weak when it was born.
だけど、三番目のヒナは、生まれた時から、とても衰弱してたそうです。

Unfortunately, the third owlet passed away on the day when it was born.
残念ながら、三番目のヒナは、生まれたその日に儚くなったです。

And this was the beginning of misfortune.
そして、これが、不幸の始まりだったです。



On the following day, mom and her another owlets passed away.
翌日、ママともう一羽のヒナが儚くなったです。

A zookeeper took a surviving owlet to an animal hospital in the zoo to rescue it.
飼育員さんは、生き残ったヒナを救うために、園内の動物病院に連れて行ったです。

I really hoped that the surviving owlet would be grown.
あたしは、生き残ったヒナが育ってくれるのを願ったです。

But few days later, one of the member of TZV(Tokyo Zoo Volunteers) told me that the owlet passed away.
だけど、数日後、東京ズーボランティアーズの人が、ヒナが儚くなったことを教えてくれたです。

I was sad and felt despair.
あたしは、哀しくて、絶望を感じたです。



I went to "Tama Zoological Park" last sunday.
日曜日に「多摩動物公園」に行って来たです。

That time, I saw one snowy owlet.
その時、あたしは、一羽のシロフクロウのヒナを見つけたです。

Yes, the owlet who was in the animal hospital is alive!!
そーです、動物病院にいたあの子は生きてたです!!

It was incorrect information that the owlet passed away.
ヒナが儚くなったっていうのは、誤報だったです。

The owlet has been raised by a human in the animal hospital.
ヒナは、動物病院で人工育雛されてたです。

On July 15th, the owlet made its redebut in the exhibit area.
そんでもって、7月15日に、放飼場に再デビューしたです。

I shivered due to too much happiness.
あたしは、嬉しすぎて、ブルブル震えたです。

Dea the Polar Bear ホッキョクグマのデアちゃん

Like a sea goddess... 海の女神のように…。

She is “Dea” the polar bear who came from “Zoo Safari Fasano” in Italy to “Ueno Zoo” in Japan.
彼女は、イタリアの「ファザーノサファリ」から、「上野動物園」に来た、ホッキョクグマの「デア」ちゃんです。

She takes a bath in a small pond, but never swims in the large pool.
彼女は、小さいお池で水浴びするですけど、決して、プールで泳がないです。

Actually she couldn’t swim.
実は、彼女は、泳げなかったのです。

There was not a large pool in "Zoo Safari Fasano" that she lived in.
彼女が住んでいた「ファザーノサファリ」には、でっかいプールが無かったです。

Because of that she had never swum in her life.
だから、彼女は、泳いだことが無かったです。

When she came to Japan, she was already 3 years old.
彼女が日本に来たとき、既に3才だったです。

I guess it’s not easy to learn how to swim for her.
あたしは、彼女が泳ぎを学ぶのは、簡単じゃないと思ったです。

“Dea” means “Goddess” in Italian.
「デア」は、イタリア語で「女神」っていう意味です。

I really hoped she would be able to swim a-sap, like a “Sea Goddess”.
あたしは、彼女が「海の女神」のように、早く泳げるようになるといいなって思ったです。

This is a continuation of that story.
これは、続きのお話です。

When I went to “Ueno Zoo” last month, fabulous news awaited me.
先月、上野動物園に行ったとき、素敵なニュースが待ってたです。

At last Dea was able to swim!!
ついに、デアちゃんが泳げるようになったです!!

A zookeeper who is in charge of her never gave up making her swim.
彼女の担当の飼育員さんは、彼女が泳げるようにすることを、決してあきらめなかったです。

The zookeeper did their best.
飼育員さんは、ベストを尽くしてくれたです。



For example;
たとえば…

First, the zookeeper put a little water into the pool.
最初に、飼育員さんは、少ないお水を、プールに入れておいたです。

Little by little, the zookeeper increased the water in the pool so she could adjust to a lot of water.
彼女が慣れられるように、飼育員さんは、少しずつ、お水の量を増やして行ったです。

Or the zookeeper put some pieces of apple on the edge of the pool to lure her near the pool.
また、飼育員さんは、彼女をプールにおびき寄せるために、プールのふちに、リンゴを置いたです。

In this way, she became able to swim thanks to the zookeepers efforts.
このようにして、彼女は、飼育員さんの努力のおかげで、泳げるようになったです。



She was swimming in the pool freely and cheerfully, now.
彼女は、今、楽しそうに、プールで自由に泳いでるです。

The zookeeper threw some pieces of apple into the pool.
飼育員さんが、プールの中に、リンゴを投げ入れたです。

She jumped into the pool, and she got it and ate it.
彼女は、プールに飛び込んで、リンゴをゲットして食べたです。


It seemed she was very having fun, and she was so cute.
彼女は、すっごく楽しそうで、とっても可愛かったです。

I felt so glad, I got the shivers.
あたしは、うれしくってブルブルしちゃったです。



She became a real “Sea Goddess”.
彼女は、本当の「海の女神」になったです。

But wait a minute.
でも、ちょと待ってくださいです。

There is a pool in Ueno zoo.
上野動物園には、プールがあります。

But, there is not a sea.
でも、海は無いです。

However, I think “Pool Goddess” is a little strange.
だけど、「プールの女神」は、いささか変だと思うです。

mmm… H2O Goddes… no no no.
う～ん、「Ｈ2Ｏ女神」・・・いや、いや、いや。

It is more strange.
もっと、変です。

Yes, I’ve decided it!!
よし、決めたです!!

I will call her a beautiful “Aqua Goddess”.
あたしは、彼女を「水の女神」って呼ぶことにするです。

After the Star Festival. 祭の後

Tama Zoological Park had been decorated by Tanabata decorations.
多摩動物公園では、七夕飾りがやられてたです。

There was bamboo tree in front of each exhibit areas, and were decorated by a lot of "Tanzaku.
放飼場の前に笹があって、たくさんの短冊が飾られてたです。

Wish of each animal were written on the Tanzaku.
それぞれの動物さん達の願いが、短冊に書かれてたです。

Unfortunately, it was raining yesterday in Tama Zoological Park.
残念ながら、昨日、多摩動物公園は雨でした。

Will their wish come true?
みんなの願いは叶うかしら？



He is “Non” the red panda.
彼は、レッサーパンダの「ノン」ちゃんです。

Non wished, “I want to eat a lot of delicious foods”.
のんちゃんは、「おいしいものをいっぱい食べたい」って願ったです。

His favorite food is an apple.
彼の好きな食べ物は、リンゴです。



She is “Asahi” the snow leopard triplet who was born last year.
彼女は、去年うまれたユキヒョウの三つ子の「アサヒ」です。

She decided, "I monopolize all meals".
彼女は、「ごはんひとりじめ」って決めたです。

It's no longer "Wish", it's her "declaration".
もはや「願い」じゃなくて、「宣言」です(≧▽≦)ｷｬﾊﾊｯ

One day, Asahi was eating a beef bone which was given by a zookeeper.
ある日、アサヒが、飼育員さんから貰った牛骨を食べてたです。



“Sukai” who is her brother wanted to share it with her, but Asahi got angry hard, so Sukai gave up it.
彼女の兄弟の「スカイ」は、分けて欲しかったんだけど、アサヒが、猛烈に怒るから、あきらめたです。



On the other hand, guinea pigs have a serious wish.
一方、モルモットさん達の願いは真面目です。

They wished, "We wish we succeed in our diet".
彼らは「ダイエットができますように」って祈ったです。

But I guess this wish is not guinea pigs' wish.
でも、あたしは、これはモルモットさん達の願いじゃないと思うです。

I guess this is a zookeeper's wish in charge of them.
彼らの担当飼育員さんの願いだと思うです。

I think the zookeepers always wish about their health and happiness.
飼育員さん達は、いつも、彼らの健康と幸せを願っていると思うです。

I always appreciate the zookeepers’ effort.
あたしは、いつも、飼育員さんたちに感謝してるです。



Finally, I’d like to introduce Yakushika deer’s wish.
最後に、ヤクシカさんたちの願いをご紹介します。

They wished, “After Star festival, please give us all of these bamboo”.
彼らは、「七夕が終わったら、この笹を全部ください」って願ったです。

I guess this wish came true.
あたしは、この願いは、実現したと思うです(≧▽≦)ｷｬﾊﾊｯ
