Philosopher of the forest. 森の賢者

She is an Orangutan in the "Chausuyama zoo" in Nagano.
彼女は、長野県の「茶臼山動物園」のオランウータンです。

What an unladylike behaviour!!
なんちゅー恰好しとるんじゃいっ!!

And she seems to spit.
しかも、彼女は、唾を吐くらしいです。

There is a "spit zone" in front of her area.
彼女の放飼場の前に「ツバゾーン」があるです。

There is a possibility that you will be spat by her, when you enter the "spit zone".
「ツバゾーン」に入ると、唾をかけられる恐れがあるです。

Orangutan is called "Philosopher of the forest", but is she also really so?
オランウータンは「森の賢者」って呼ばれてるですけど、彼女も、ホントにそうなのかなぁ?(≧▽≦)ｷｬﾊﾊｯ

Les Miserables. ああ、無情!!

This is a paradise of turtles at "Hamura zoo".
ここは、「羽村市動物公園」のカメのパラダイスです。

One day, a incident happened!!
ある日、事件が起きたです!!

I assume the nearest from us located turtle's name is "Kamekichi".
我々の一番近くにいるカメさんを「カメ吉君」と仮定するです。

And I assume a turtle's name behind him is "Kameko".
そして、彼の後ろにいるカメさんを「カメ子さん」と仮定するです。



Kamekichi called for help to someone with scream.
カメ吉君は、悲鳴を上げて助けを呼んだです。

But nobody helped Kamekichi.
でも、誰もカメ吉君を助けてくれなかったです。

Kameko slowly cornered Kamekichi with beautiful smile on her face.
カメ子さんは、美しい微笑みを浮かべながら、ゆっくりとカメ吉君を追いつめたです。

And mercilessly, at last, Kameko pushed Kamekichi off into the pond.
そして、残酷にも、ついに、カメ子さんは、カメ吉君を、池に突き落したです。



Unfortunately, I'm not sure why she did it.
残念ながら、彼女が、なぜ、それをやったのか、わからないです。

But, all of incident including his scream are recorded on this video.
でも、彼の悲鳴を含めた事件のすべてが、このビデオに収録されてるるです。

Like a gust of winds... 一陣の風のように…。

They live in Africa, in the wild.
彼らは、野生下では、アフリカに住んでるです。

Their height is about 120cm, and is about the same heights as the lower grades of elementary school students.
彼らの背丈は120cmくらいで、小学校低学年くらいです。



I have interest in shoebill’s eye color.
あたしは、ハシビロコウさんたちの目の色に興味があるです。

When they are child, their eye color is yellow.
彼らの目の色は、子供の時は黄色です。

But, their eye color changes into blue from yellow, when they become adults.
でも、大人になると、黄色から青に変わるです。

Usually, eye color of kittens is blue until they're about one month old.
ふつう、子猫の目の色は１ヶ月才になるまで青いです。

But, when kittens become adults, their eye color changes into yellow (or other colors) from blue.
でも、大人になると、青から黄色(または、別の色)に代わるです。

Of course, some kinds of cats' eye color are blue by nature.
もちろん、元々青い目の子もいるです。

The process of the shoebills’ and the process of the cats' are opposite.
ハシビロコウと、ネコは、さかさまです。



Shoebill’s breeding is so difficult.
ハシビロコウの繁殖は、とっても難しいです。

At least, as far as I know, the success of shoebill's breeding is only one zoo in Germany, in the world.
少なくても、あたしが知ってる限りでは、ハシビロコウの繁殖に成功したのは、ドイツの動物園ひとつだけです。

They are researching now, so no one knows its detail.
現在研究中なので、誰も、その詳細が、わかんないです。

Because, all shoebills in Japan were caught and were brought to Japan from the great nature of Africa.
だから、日本にいる全てのハシビロコウさんたちは、アフリカの大自然の中から捕獲されて、日本に連れてこられたです。



They are famous as "The never moving birds".
彼らは「動かない鳥」として有名です。

There is also a rumor that some algae grew inside the their bill.
彼らのクチバシの内側に、藻が生えたって噂もあるです。

In fact, the reason why they never move is for hunting.
ホントは、彼らが動かないのは、狩りのためです。

They are waiting a fish quietly, and they aim for a prey and catch it, like a gust of wind.
彼らは静かにお魚を待つです、そして、獲物に狙いをつけて、一陣の風のように捕獲するです。

They also do it when they need to.

By the way, I love their crest on their back of the head.
ところで、あたしは、彼らの後頭部の飾り羽が大好きです。

I think it’s so charming.
めちゃめちゃ可愛いと思うです。

When I and some friends of mine found someone’s bedhead, we always say “Your back of the head is like a shoebill’s.
誰かの後頭部に寝癖を見つけた時、あたしたちは、いつも「あんたの後頭部、ハシビロコウ」って言うです。
