There are 3 kinds of owls in the same cage, in "Ueno zoo" in Japan.
「恩賜上野動物公園」では、３種類のフクロウさんたちが、同じケージにいるです。

This is "Barred Eagle Owl (Malay Eagle Owl)".
この子は、「マレーワシミミズク」さんです。

Barred Eagle Owls live in SE Asia in the wild.
マレーワシミミズクさん達は、野生下では、東南アジアに住んでるです。

Their jet-black eyes are very beautiful.
彼らの漆黒の瞳は、とってもキレイです。

They are amiable, and are gentle.
この子達は、懐っこくて、おとなしいです。





This is "Spot-Bellied Eagle Owl (Forest Eagle Owl)".
この子は、「ネパールワシミミズク」さんです。

Spot-Bellied Eagle Owls live in hot and humid forest in SE Asia, in the wild.
ネパールワシミミズクさん達は、野生下では、東南アジアの、高温多湿な森林に住んでるです。

They look a bit like Barred Eagle Owl.
彼らは、ちょびっと、マレーワシミミズクさんに似てるです。

Barred Eagle Owls have horizontal stripes in their belly, but Spot-Bellied Eagles have a lot of heart-shaped spot in their belly.
マレーワシミミズクさんの模様は、シマシマですけど、ネパールワシミミズクさんの模様はハートマークです。





And this is "Brown Wood Owl".
そして、この子は「オオフクロウ」さんです。

Brown Wood Owls live in rain forests in EA Asia, and the mountain area in Nepal, in the wild.
オオフクロウさんは、野生下では、東南アジアの熱帯雨林や、ネパールの山岳地帯に住んでるです。

Unfortunately, I don't have more information about them.

The news of death. 訃報

He is “Ryu” the White Tiger in “Tobu zoo”.
彼は、東武動物公園のホワイトタイガーの「リュウ」君です。

Unfortunately, he passed away, yesterday morning, due to old age.
残念ながら、彼は、昨日の朝、老衰の為に儚くなったです。

He was 20 years old, and was the oldest white tiger in Japan.
彼は、20才で、日本最高齢のホワイトタイガーだったです。



White tigers are only 300 or less in the world, and they are very rare species.
ホワイトタイガーは大変珍しく、世界で300頭にも満たない希少種です。

They aren’t albinos but white mutants of Bengal tiger, so their eye color isn’t red but blue.
ベンガルトラの白変種で、アルビノとは違い、目の色は、赤じゃなくて青いです。

Their paw pads' color and nose's color are pink.
肉球と鼻の頭は、ピンク色です。

It is commonly said that the recessive gene which cause maybe the white color is carried only by Bengal tigers.
一般に、白くなる劣性遺伝子を持ってるのは、ベンガルトラさんだけじゃないかって言われてるです。

One American researcher say, the probability that White Tigers are born, is only one-10,000th, in the wild.
アメリカの研究者によると、野生下でホワイトタイガーが生まれる確立は、わずか1／10,000です。

Now, almost all white tiger live in the zoos around the world.
現在、彼らのほとんどは世界各国の動物園に住んでるです。

In India, White tigers are revered by the people as holy animals, and there is legend which says the happiness will come to you when you saw them.
インドでは、ホワイトタイガーは、神聖な生きものとして崇められていて、ホワイトタイガーを見ると幸福になれるという言い伝えがあるです。



I first met him, 3 years ago.
あたしがリュウちゃんに初めて会ったのは、約3年前です。

He had been having overwhelming beauty and nobility, so I felt the sense of awe to him and I shivered.
彼は、圧倒的な美しさと、気高さを持っていて、あたしは、畏敬の念を感じて震えたです。

It was a great enjoyment for me to see him.
彼に会うのが楽しみだったです。

I’m very sad that I can't see him again.
彼に、もう、会えないと思うと、ものすごくさみしいです。

Owls in "Ueno zoo" #1 上野動物園のフクロウさん達#1

This is "Greyish Eagle owl" in "Ueno zoo".
この子は「恩賜上野動物公園」の「アビシニアンワシミミズク」さんです。

Greyish Eagle owls live in savanna in Somalia, Kenya, and Uganda.
アビシニアンワシミミズクさんは、ソマリア、ケニア、ウガンダなどのサバンナに住んでるです。

They have a ginger pupils and have a red eyeline.
彼らの瞳は茶褐色で、赤いアイラインがあるです。

But unfortunately, Greyish Eagle Owl was closing its eyes, so I couldn't see its eye color and eye line color.
でも、残念なことに、目を閉じてたから、目の色もアイラインの色も見られなかったです(T_T)

Their Japanese name is “メンフクロウ”, and "メン" means "mask" in English.
彼らの和名は「メンフクロウ」です。

It looks like they put on a face mask, so they were named "メンフクロウ".
彼らが、お面をかぶってるみたく見えるから「メンフクロウ」って名前になったです。

And their English name is “Barn Owl”.
で、彼らの英名は、「Barn Owl」です。

"Barn" means "納屋" in Japanese.
「Barn」は「納屋」って言う意味です。

They make a nest in barn, and catch and eat mice, so they are called “Barn Owl”.
彼らは、納屋に巣を作って、ネズミを捕まえて食べるから、「納屋フクロウ」って呼ばれてるです。

They have heart-shaped face and it's so cute.
お顔の形は、ハート型で、すっごく可愛いです。

They live in all over the world.
彼らは、世界中に住んでるです。



A "Greyish Eagle Owl" in "Ueno zoo" was put into the same cage with two "Barn Owls".
「上野動物園」の「アビシニアンワシミミズク」は、2羽の「メンフクロウ」と同じ放飼場に入れられてたです。

Barn Owls were into a hole of a log which is under Greyish Eagle Owl.
メンフクロウさん達は、アビシニアンワシミミズクさんの下の丸太の穴の中にいたです。

It seemed so cute and funny.
とっても可愛くて、面白かったです。
