Puma in "Tobu zoo".
「東武動物公園」のピューマさん

"Nyah", "Boo", and "Bleah" have similar images to "Akkanbe".
「Nyah」、「Boo」、「bleah」には、「あっかんべー」と似たイメージがあるです。

But strictly speaking, there is not words of the same meaning as "Akkanbe", in English.
でも、厳密に言うと、英語には「あっかんべー」と同じ意味の単語は無いです。

"Akkanbe" is a kind of childish behaviour to make a fool of others.
「あっかんべー」は、誰かを小馬鹿にする、子供っぽい言動です。





The etymology of the "AkkanBe" is considered as follows.
「あっかんべー」の語源は、以下の通りと考えられてるです。

When someone makes a fool of others, they pull down the lower eyelids and show the red parts of eyelids’ reverse, and poke their tongue out.
誰かが他の人を小馬鹿にするときに、下まぶたを引き下げて下まぶたの裏側の赤い部分を見せて、舌を突き出すです。

Because, at first, it was called the "Akaime" which means "red eye" in English.
だから、最初は「赤い目」って呼ばれてたです。

The pronumciation of "Akaime" changed, over many generations, little by little.
長い時間をかけて、「赤い目」のアクセントは、少しずつ、変化したです。

For example, "Akaime", "Akanme", "akanbe".
あかいめ…、あかんめ…、あかんべ。

And it became a now sounds which is "Akkanbe".
で、今の「あっかんべー」になったです。





Puma is also called "Cougar" or "Mountain lion".
ピューマは、「クーガー」とも「マウンテン・ライオン」とも呼ばれてるです。

But they aren't in the Lion family.
でも、彼らは、ライオンさんの仲間じゃないです。

Pumas are wildcat family, and are biggest in them.
ピューマはヤマネコの仲間なんだけど、その中で一番大きいです。

Usually, they have solitary behavior in the wild.
通常、野生では、彼らは単独行動です。

Pumas' favorite food are sloths.
ピューマの大好物は、ナマケモノです。

Wow, please get away, hurry up, Sloth!!
ヤバイ、ナマケモノさん、急いで逃げてくださいです!!

Hometown of Swans. 白鳥の郷

I went to “Hometown of Swans” in Inzai city in Chiba, last weekend.
先週末、千葉県印西市の「白鳥の郷」に行って来たです。

They are wild “Tundra Swans”.
彼らは、野生のコハクチョウさん達です。

Every year, swans migrate to here from Siberia, and stay here during Winter, and they depart to Siberia again, when spring has come.
毎年、白鳥さん達は、冬にシベリアからここへやって来て、春になると、また、シベリアに旅立つです。



Mr. Mitsuo Deyama has fed Tundra swans, since the 4th year of Heisei era.
出山光男氏は、平成4年から、コハクチョウさん達に、ごはんをあげてたです。

At first, the number of swans was 6, but he heartily took care of them, so it gradually increased.
最初は、6羽だったですけど、彼が、一生懸命お世話したので、少しずつ増えていったです。

And a lot of swans migrated here from Siberia in the Winter period every year.
そして、たくさんの白鳥さん達が、毎年、冬の期間、ここへやって来るようになったです。



Mr. Deyama had a daughter who got married in Siberia.
出山氏には、シベリアに嫁いだお嬢さんがいたです。

But unfortunately she has passed away.
でも、残念ながら、彼女は、儚くなったです。

I heard he said "she transformed into a swan, and come back home with my grandchildren to see me every year".
彼は「娘が白鳥に姿を変えて、孫と一緒に、毎年、里帰りする」と言ってたそうです。

Mr. Deyama passed away in the 11th year of the Heisei era, but his will has been passed to a lot of people who love Tundra swans.
出山氏は、平成11年に儚くなったですけど、彼の意志は、白鳥を愛する沢山の人々に引き継がれたです。

I'm home!!
ただいまぁ～!!

In the morning, they go out for meals.
朝になると、彼らは、ごはんを食べに出かけるです。

And they come back here, in the late afternoon.
で、夕方、ここに戻ってくるです。

I shot these photos when they came back to here.
あたしは、彼らが戻ってきたときのお写真を撮ったです。

I saw wild swans for the first time.
あたしは、野生のハクチョウさん達に会うのは初めてです。

I think the image of flying is so cute (especially their feet) rather than beautiful.
あたしは、彼らが舞い降りる姿は、美しいというより、可愛いって思ったです(特にあんよが)。



And then, when I was intently watching the swans, a flock of birds passed over my head.
そして、あたしが夢中でハクチョウさん達を見ていたときに、あたしの頭上を、一群の鳥さん達が通過したです。

I shivered, because I was much too happy, it was never because I was cold.
あたしは、寒いからじゃなくて、嬉しすぎて震えたです。

The first snow. 初雪

It snowed yesterday, in Tokyo.
昨日、東京で、雪が降ったです。

They are snow leopard triplets who were born on May 25th of last year, in "Tama zoological park".
彼らは、去年の5月25日に、「多摩動物公園」で生まれた、ユキヒョウの三つ子ちゃん達です。

Snow leopard kids saw snow for the first time in their life.
ユキヒョウキッズは、生まれて初めて、雪を見たです。
