“Giant pandas” were discovered by “Armand David” who was one of the French missionary, in Sichuan in China, on today of 1869.
「ジャイアントパンダ」は、1869年の今日、中国の四川で、フランス人宣教師のアルマンド・デビッド神父によって発見されたです。

Accordingly, it is the "Giant pandas' day", today.
というわけで、今日は「パンダの日」です。



Before, I watched a TV show about “Kankan” and “Ranran” the Giant pandas.
以前、テレビで、ジャイアントパンダの「カンカン」と「ランラン」についてやられてるのを見たです。

They were the first Giant pandas to come to Japan from China to become a bridge between China and Japan as goodwill ambassadors, on October 28th 1972.
彼らは、1972年10月28日に、親善大使として、中国から日本にやって来た、最初のジャイアントパンダさん達です。



Giant pandas Have solitary behavior in the wild, so they have been separated into different areas.
ジャイアントパンダは、野生では単独行動の習性を持っているので、彼らは別々の放飼場に入れられたです。

Every morning, when Kankan went outside, he looked for Ranran first in the area next to his.
毎朝、カンカンはお外に出ると、隣の放飼場にランランの姿を探したです。

Kankan loved Ranran very much.
カンカンは、ランランが、めちゃめちゃ大好きだったです。



Mr. Nakagawa was the zookeeper in charge of them, in those days.
中川さんは、当時の、彼らの担当飼育員さんだったです。

When he blew smoke rings, Ranran often used to try to catch them.
彼がスモークリング(タバコの煙の輪っか)を作ると、よく、ランランは、それを捕まえようとしたです。

But it was a secret just between Ranran and him.
でも、それは、中川さんとランランだけの秘密だったです。



People hoped that Kankan and Ranran would give birth to babies.
みんなが、カンカンとランランの赤ちゃんの誕生を願ったです。

When the first mating season had come to Ranran, Kankan was still a child.
ランランに最初の「フンフンの季節(交尾期)が訪れた時、カンカンは、まだ子供だったです。

He only wanted to play with Ranran.
彼は、ただ、ランランと遊びたいだけでした。

But, the next year, they had fallen in love.
でも、その翌年、彼らは恋に落ちたです。

And Ranran was given a small life in her belly.
そして、ランランは、彼女のおなかに小さな命を宿したです。

But one day, suddenly, Ranran fell sick with gestosis.
でも、ある日、突然、ランランが、妊娠中毒症で倒れたです。

A lot of the staff of “Ueno zoo” desperately treated her through the night.
たくさんの動物園のスタッフの方々が、必死で、夜通し彼女の治療にあたったです。

Everyone really strongly wished she would awake again.
みんなが、彼女が再び目覚めることを、強く強く願ったです。



But…
だけど…。



Mr. Nakagawa thought that if he blew smoke rings then she might awake.
中川さんは、スモークリングを作ったら、彼女が目覚めるんじゃないかと思ったです。

Because, it was her favorite game to try to catch the smoke rings.
タバコの煙の輪っかを捕まえるのは、彼女のお気に入りの遊びだったから。

He picked up a cigarette, and he blew a smoke ring.
彼は、タバコを一本取り出して、スモークリングを作ったです。

But, Ranran didn’t wake up.
でも、ランランは起きない。

He blew a smoke ring once more.
彼は、スモークリングをも1個作ったです。

But, Ranran didn’t wake up yet.
だけど、ランランは、まだ起きない。

He tried to blow one more smoke ring again.
彼は、もう一度、さらにスモークリングを作ろうとしたです。

But, she didn’t move at all.
だけど、彼女は、全く動かなかったです。

She passed away with their tiny baby in her belly.
彼女は、彼女のお腹の中の、小さな赤ちゃんと一緒に儚くなったです。



Day by day, Kankan was waiting for his beloved Ranran who never return again.
来る日も、来る日も、カンカンは、決して帰って来ることのない最愛のランランを待ち続けたです。

And the next year, Kankan passed away, it seemed like he was following Ranran and their baby.
そして、翌年、カンカンは、ランランと赤ちゃんの後を追うように、儚くなったです。

The TV show showed us one monochrome photograph of Kankan which was standing on his hind legs and was looking at where Ranran used to be, and ended.
その番組は、カンカンが後足で立ち上がって、かつてランランのいた場所を覗き込んでいるモノクロ写真で、しめくくられていたです。



There is a building whose name is the “Watching Center”, in “Tama zoological park”.
多摩動物公園に「ウォッチングセンター」っていう建物があるです。
Kankan and Ranran are there, now.
カンカンとランランは、今、そこにいるです。

They were made into stuffed animals and are preserved in the same case in the “Watching center”.
彼らは、剥製になって、ウォッチングセンター内の同じケースの中で保存されてるです。

I don’t like stuffed animals.
あたしは、剥製は好きじゃないです。

But I’m so glad that they are able to be together now.
だけど、あたしは、彼らが、今、一緒にいられることを、とても嬉しく思うです。

I pray their souls rest in peace.
彼らの魂の休息を祈るです。

A true story. 本当の話

I called “Tohoku safari zoo”, few days ago.
２～３日前に東北サファリパークに電話したです。

And I said “I have some questions about the Hyo (Hyo means Leopard in Japanese.), so a person of charge of Hyo, please”.
そして、「ヒョウについて質問があるので、担当の人をお願いします。」って言ったです。

The receptionist replied “What show?”.
受付の人が「何のショーですか?」って言ったです。

I said “It’s not show, it’s the Hyo, Persian Hyou”.
あたしは「ショーじゃなくて、ヒョウです。ペルシャヒョウ。」って言ったです。

And then she said “We don’t have the Persian show”.
すると彼女は「ウチではペルシャショーはやってません。」って言ったです。

So, I said “It’s not show, it’s the Leopard in English”.
だから、あたしは「ショーじゃないです、英語で言うとレパードです」って言ったです。

But it seemed she didn’t get it, and she said “We don’t have the Leotard show”.
でも、彼女は、わかんなかったみたいで「ウチでは、レオタードショーはやっていません。」って言ったです。

I made them angry... 怒らせちゃった…。

They are "Marabou Storks" in "Animal kingdom" in Izu, Japan.
彼らは、伊豆の「アニマルキングダム」のアフリカハゲコウさん達です。

They seemed to find something.
彼らは、何かをみつけたみたいだったです。

I was watching them, because I was interested in what they found.
彼らが何をみつけたのか気になったので、彼らを見てたです。

Then, I was told by one of them "What are you looking at!?"
そしたら、「何見てるのさ!?」って言われたです。

I made the Marabou Stork angry.
あたしは、ハゲコウさんを怒らせちゃったみたいです。

フラミンゴさん達は、とってもキレイですよね?

By the way, there is what I've always wanted to know.
ところで、あたしは、以前から知りたかったことがあるです。

It's a inside of the flamingos' skirt.
それは、フラミンゴさんのスカートの中身です。

I looked inside the skirt.
あたしは、スカートの中を覗いてみたです。

Then, I was told by a flamingo "Watch your eyes!!".
そしたら、フラミンゴさんに、「どこ見てんのさ!!」って言われちゃったです。

I made the flamingo angry.
あたしは、フラミンゴさんを怒らせちゃったみたいです。





There are some Elands in "Animal kingdom" in Izu.
伊豆の「アニマルキングダム」に、エランドさんがいるです。

One of the female Eland was feeding her baby.
エランドさんが、赤ちゃんにミルクをあげてたです。

When I was video-taping that scene, suddenly other Eland appeared and I was told by the Eland "Watch your eyes!?"
あたしが、それをビデオで撮ってたら、突然、他のエランドさんが現れて「何見てんだよ!!」って言われちゃったです。

I made the Eland angry.
あたしは、エランドさんを怒らせちゃったみたいです。


I thought my heart leaped out from my mouth, in surprise.
びっくりして、心臓が口から飛び出すかと思ったです(≧▽≦)ｷｬﾊﾊｯ
