News of the birth. 誕生のニュース

I found snowy owl's eggs on the 18th of last month.
あたしは、先月の18日に、シロフクロウさんのよっつの卵をみつけたです。

After that, mom snowy owl laid 2 more eggs.
その後、シロフクロウのママは、更に２個の卵を産んだです。

There were 6 eggs in all.
卵は、全部でむっつです。



When I went to "Tama Zoological Park" yesterday, I saw mom snowy owl's chest was stained and there were a lot of flies in snowy owl's cage.
昨日、「多摩動物公園」に行ったときに、シロフクロウのママの胸元が汚れてて、ハエがいっぱいいるのを見たです。

The moment when I looked at it, I was sure the eggs hatched.
その瞬間、あたしは、卵が孵化したって、確信したです。



Usually when the snowy owl eats a mouse, they swallow its prey in one go.
普通、シロフクロウがネズミを食べるときは、丸飲みにするです。

But when they take care of their chicks, mom cuts the mouse into pieces and gives it to their chicks.
だけど、ヒナのお世話をするときは、ママはネズミを細かく千切って、ヒナに与えるです。

Because of that mom's chest is stained with blood.
だから、ママの胸元が汚れるです。

When she don't have a chick.
ヒナがいないとき

And flies swarm leftover.
そして、ハエは、食べ残しに集まるです。

So, I thought baby snowy owls were born.
それで、あたしは、シロフクロウの赤ちゃんが生まれたって思ったです。



I stayed at front of the snowy owl's cage, and kept watching them.
あたしは、シロフクロウさんの放飼場の前で、ねばり続けたです。

About 2 hours later, I found two newly hatched snow-white chicks under mom's chest.
約２時間後、あたしは、2羽の孵化したばかりの真っ白なヒナを、ママの胸元に見つけたです。

The snowy owls chick's downy color is white until one week old.
シロフクロウのヒナの産毛は、生後1週間までは、白いです。

Afterward, the color of the chick changes to a dark gray from a white.
その後、白からダークグレイに変わるです。

This year, one of female snowy owls in Tama Zoological park laid 4 eggs.
今年、多摩動物公園のシロフクロウさんは、6つの卵を産んだです。

I don't know whether all eggs will hatch, but I hope one or more eggs will hatch.
全部の卵が孵化するかどうかわかんないですけど、ひとつでも多くの卵がかえってくれたらいいなって思うです。

I'm looking forward to seeing their growth.

They are good at climbing the crags.
彼らは、険しい岩山に登るのが得意です。

Not only male Himalayan tahr but also females have horns.
ヒマラヤタールは、男の子だけでなく、女の子にも角があるです。

But the males’ horn is bigger than the females’.
でも、男の子の角は、女の子の角よりでっかいです。

The male Himalayan tahrs’ body length is 80 to 175cm.
男の子のヒマラヤタールの体長は、80～175cmです。

The females are half the length of males.
女の子は、男の子の半分くらいの大きさです。

They are member of the goat family, but they don’t have a goat beard.
彼らは、ヤギの仲間ですけど、おヒゲは無いです。

Males have a mane.
男の子には、タテガミがあるです。

Their mane is so long, straight like a Japanese doll's hair, smooth, and so beautiful, in mating season.
繁殖期の彼らのタテガミは、長くて、日本人形の髪のようにまっすぐで、サラサラで、美しいです。

Their mating season is from autumn to winter.
彼らの恋の季節は、秋から冬です。

Usually, they give birth to one baby at a time.
ふつう、一度に1頭の赤ちゃんを産むです。

Their estimated length of gestation is 177 to 242 days.
妊娠期間は、177～242日です。

There is a big difference between "177 days" and "242 days".
「177日」と「242日」は、大きく違うです。

Because of that even if a female Himalayan tahr mates with someone, she doesn't become pregnant promptly.
それは、もし、ヒマラヤタールの女の子が誰かとエッチしても、すぐに妊娠しないからです。

When the environment which is foods, the climate, etcetera that surrounds a mother becomes good, the embryo is implanted and it begins to grow.
食べ物や気候など母体を取り巻く環境が良くなったときに、着床し、成長しはじめるです。

Because of that the length of gestation isn’t constant.
だから、妊娠期間は、一定じゃないです。

This phenomenon is called “Delayed Implantation”.
この現象を「着床遅延」っていうです。

It is also seen in bears, kangaroos, and red pandas.
クマさんや、カンガルーさんや、レッサーパンダさんにも「着床遅延」が見られるです。



By the way, before, a friend of mine said “I haven’t mated for 2 years”.
ところで、以前、あたしのお友達が「もう、2年もエッチしてない」って言ってたです。

But his wife gave birth to a baby few months later.
でも、彼の奥さんは、その数か月後に赤ちゃんを産んだです。

He insisted “It's the Delayed Implantation”.
彼は、「着床遅延だ」って言い張ってたです。
