画廊翠巒「永井里枝展 - Appearance -」~9/20迄

昨年に引き続き、永井里枝展を開催します。

会場がものすごく明るいです。

これだけ鮮やかな絵が並ぶと、会場がこんなに空間が明るくなるんですね。

永井は、その場所に積層する人々の営みや記憶、感情の気配を描いてきました。目の前にある風景を起点に、静かに、しかし確かに流れる時間や人々の存在を、幾層にも重ねながら画面を構築しています。

本展で描かれるのは、永井が国内外の都市で出会った風景です。

活動の場を広げてきた永井は、それぞれの都市がもつ歴史や文化、人々の営みを横断的に、けれども等しいまなざしで見つめています。異なる文脈をもつ都市の風景を、箔を施した画面に、顔料を樹脂膠で溶いて鮮やかに描き出します。きらりと光る画面には自律した現代性があり、日本画の枠組みにとらわれず、今日的な絵画表現を追求する永井の大きな特徴となっています。

これまで永井は、対象を真っ直ぐに捉え、その場所に蓄積された記憶や人々の営みを画面に重ねてきました。しかし本展の最新作では、水面などの「あわい」に映り込む像を通して対象を捉えることで、その表現をさらに展開しています。水面を介して映し出されたモチーフには、それが本来存在する場所だけでなく、水面が存在する場所の文脈も重なります。反射する像は反転し、揺らぎ、現実とは異なる姿を見せます。そこには、これまでの等しいまなざしに加え、永井自身の意思や思考がより強く表れています。

以下は今回の個展に際し、永井里枝氏より提供された文章です。

場所とは単なる物理的空間ではなく、人々の記憶や営みが息づく文化的な空間です。同様に、人も単なる合理的存在ではありません。惑い、憤り、寄る辺なき想いに揺れる、心ある存在です。しかし、その心の働きは世界との関係によって初めて立ち現れます。

道に迷い、そびえ立つ史跡を仰ぎ見たとき、意識は身体を忘れ、遠き過去の熱狂に溶け込んでいます。大河に映る都市を見やれば、数多の人の生活と、それが続いてゆく未来へと視線は伸びています。このとき、私達は場所の外観だけを見ているのではなく、その場に刻まれゆく年月と想いも体感しています。そこに虚実の別はありません。

本展で絵に描かれた場所は、雨上がりの、何気ない人の営みに沿ったところです。それらは虚像として描かれます。色彩は弾け、線は揺らぎ、像を結んでは離れます。うつろう造形としての外観を見つめると、そこに鑑賞者の経験が生まれます。貴方と絵という関係性のうちに、見せかけではない心が立ち現れ、その想いに背を押されて日々が続いてゆくのです。

Place is not just a physical space; it is a cultural one where people’s memories and lives. Similarly, human beings are not just physical and rational beings. They are alive with emotions such as confusion, anger, and a sense of helplessness. However, the working of the heart is only recognized in relation to the world.

When people are lost and gaze up at a historic site, their consciousness has lost their body and dives into the past and relives the excitement and anger of past people. When they look at the cityscape reflected in the great river, the lights remind them of the countless people who exist and that their lives will continue. At that time, we are not merely seeing the appearance of a place; we are also experiencing the memories and emotions continued to etch into it. There is no distinction between the physical and the illusion there.

This exhibition mainly features paintings of current locations after the rain. They are depicted primarily as mirror images reflected in water. On the paintings, the colors burst, the lines waver, and the images form and then vanish. As you gaze at the fragile appearance, the viewer’s own experience comes to you. Within your relationship with art, a genuine connection – not just an appearance - is born, and your days continue with courage from the feelings. That is the role of paintings.
