Some people may prefer going abroad, too far from Japan such as European, South American, or even African countries in particular if it costs only one hundred yen to fly. However I would like to travel around Japan for the following reasons.
First of all, I have never been to many cities in Japan, even famous tourist cities such as Kyoto and Nara. I was born, raised, studied, and now am working in Tokyo, that is, I have been lived in Tokyo since I was born, and unfortunately my wife is almost the same! That is to say, I have few chances to go anywhere besides Tokyo! Where I have ever visit besides Tokyo are only Osaka, Fukuoka and Hiroshima due to business reasons. Certainly, I have been to some sightseeing spots, but they are near Tokyo. Therefore, I long for traveling around Japan, for example, rural areas such as Akita or Tottori prefecture in particular. I don’t know the effectiveness that there are too many small airports in local small cities or towns where only a few airlines service. But it is very convenient for me to travel local areas in Japan. As this reasons above demonstrates, I strongly long for traveling around Japan.
Second, even though it cost one hundred yen to fly, if I flied to far place from Japan, such as European countries, I think that the time in the airplane is useless. Perhaps, it takes about fifteen hours to fly from Tokyo to London. In the airplane, I can only read books, watch movies, eat (maybe) delicious foods, and sleep at most. Fifteen hours can let me fly from Tokyo to Sapporo ten times! That is to say, in the meantime, we can enjoy sightseeing, skiing if in winter, eating delicious foods such as Sapporo Noodle and fresh sushi in Sapporo. Therefore if I fly to Japanese local cities, I can enjoy that better than going to countries far from Japan because the flight must be time-consuming.
Thus, I definitely choose to go to local areas in Japan.
I hear that July first this year is the thirtieth anniversary of Sony Walkman.
Speaking of Walkman, our generation was eager to have one. The technology and
style were marvelous. However what Walkman should be praised most is its
advanced concept and marketing sense.
It have often be seen that the young have one and listen to some pieces of music
with an earphone. This style is brought by the advent of Walkman. Walkman changed
the style of listening music.
Moreover, as a matter of course, Sony wanted to sell one to the young. In this situation,
Marui , a department store chain for the young in Japan, decided to sell one earnestly.
I read this story in some books.
Walkman is very famous both in Japan and abroad, U.S in particular. This blog says
U.S people celebrate this anniversary and praised as No1 innovation of last fifty years
with regards to music.
Surprisingly enough, I have never seen this news on Japanese media until today.
Even Sony have never announced that. Why does this phenomenon occur?
Certainly, now Walkman is less famous than i-pod even in Japan. I also use i-pod
though I used to listen to music with Walkman. However, of course, Walkman is still
sold around Japan and U.S. Doesn't Sony want to sell one?
Many people said that present Sony is not real Sony,that is to say, Sony cannot create
attractive goods like Walkman. I think Sony changed in the era of CEO Idei.
Now Sony seems not to have strong will to attack "i-pod empire". What a deplorable
it is!!
