Ten years after starting renovations that turned an abandoned jail kitchen into a publicly available commercial kitchen, the nonprofit organization that ran Battenkill Kitchen in the Salem courthouse is being dissolved.Responsibility for the kitchen, which will remain open and available for public use, is being assumed by the Historic Salem Courthouse Preservation Association, which has been renovating the historic structure for the last decade and runs a wide variety of community programs there.Donna Farringer, the association's executive director, said the facility will be known as the Courthouse Battenkill Kitchen and will become an important part of what the association does."The Battenkill Kitchen will become part of our outreach effort.
