It is such a pleasure.真田広之：Such a pleasure.So happy to be here.スティーブン：I’m a huge fan of "Shogun", and I loved your performance as Lord Toronaga.真田広之：Thank you.スティーブン：Um, I'm not the only fan out there. The show has received 25 Emmy nominations, including you, for lead actor in a drama. Congratulations on that.真田広之：Thank you, everybody.スティーブン：So, how did you, like, how did you find out?How did you celebrate?真田広之：Actually, I watched the TV. Announced for the nomination, and I was surprised, you know, is this true or something? But right after that, you know, a lot of people text me, calling me, producers, friends, co -workers, and then little by little, oh, maybe it's real.Oh my gosh. So, all day, texting, phone call, email back, then finally at night, I opened the small champagne myself.スティーブン：The premiere episode, I've got 9 million views, which is an enormous number these days. Now, were you surprised by how quickly the show was embraced?真田広之：Yes, very much. Until we are showing the first episode, we don't know what's going to happen, because 70% Japanese dialogue with subtitles.スティーブン：That must have made FX a little nervous that almost the entire thing is in Japanese.真田広之：yeah but uh it worked somehow yes yeah thank you so muchスティーブン：The character you play, Lord Toranaga, is based on a real person, Tokugawa Ieyasu, correct? He was the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, and is that someone that everyone in Japan grows up knowing about?Were you very familiar?真田広之：Very familiar and famous. And then, you know, he was my hero since I was a kid because he stopped the war period and then created the long time peaceful era.スティーブン：Which is like the height of Japanese culture comes during the togogawa shogunate, yes? Like, no one gets in or gets out of the country for that period of time.真田広之：Yes, until we open the country to the world, continue the peaceful era. So that's why, you know, I wanted to play his role, especially for now. It's a good hero.We needスティーブン：Extra ordinary character because he's always got a plan one step beyond what anyone including the audience Knows is about to happen. That must be fun to play.真田広之：a great strategist, like a high -class chess player, right?スティーブン：With a swordplaying chess against someone with a sword is very intimidating真田広之：Full Armor.スティーブン：You have a co -star in this who is a bird one of your one of your co -stars here is a Falcon真田広之：Yeah very important coworker.スティーブン：With clause. Named? the bird's name?真田広之：named Shogun. When I saw him first time in the training with him he was just three months old but already well trained and he was born just for the Shogun this show.スティーブン：Wow真田広之：Amazing.スティーブン：That's not the first time you've worked with a bird because I know here you are you playing a samurai here How long ago is this?真田広之：It was 30 years ago, almost like...スティーブン：It doesn't seem as well trained.真田広之：Yeah, and then I played my role, Turanaga's rival Ishido. Ishido's model, Ishida Mitsunari, I played at that time. And then it was like a torture scene.And then somebody put the falcon on my shoulder. And then it was not in the script. But he tried to attack my head. But luckily, at that time, my wig had a metal inside. So like a helmet. So no pain, totally no pain.But I had to act, matching for his acting. So I was like... That face. Yeah, but it worked. They used...On airスティーブン：The director liked how uncomfortable you AR.真田広之：Just we cut the metal sound. Cut, cut, cut.スティーブン：Now everybodysaid, so many people love theshow but one of the bad things about it is that it's based on James Clavell's book. I knew to the end of the book that people want more "SHOGUN".Is there going to be another season of "SHOGUN"?真田広之：Yeah, until we got a great reactions and then people wants to the season two.then we started thinking about that.But even we don't have novel anymore, we used itin the season one, everything.But we know how to do the storytelling and also we have real history. Like, you know, real models. So we know what happened in real. So many good episodes to make a drama.スティーブン：You can just go to the reality to get all it ends before the establishment of the Shogunate Yes?that's several years before that happens.真田広之：Yeah,スティーブン：and is it the end of am I pronouncing this correctly the Sengoku Jidai?真田広之：Yeah, perfect. Wow. Where did you learn Japanese?スティーブン：It's a fascinating period in Japanese history, I'm fascinated with it.真田広之：Yeah, war period, a long time war period.スティーブン：Yes, so it's possible we can get our hopes up?真田広之：yeah episode 10I revealed my dream what's gonna happen in the future but never happened in the season one so it can be happen two and three hopefully we just started the prepare writing rooms open and then scouting a location or crew so let's see what's gonna happenスティーブン：Well, please come back every time.
