Today, I'm going to talk about "Eurovision 2023"
On May 13th Eurovision’s 2023’s edition (67th edition) took place in Liverpool UK.
You might have already heard about Eurovision but let me introduce it to you.
Eurovision is an international show organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956 and happening every year during May since then, it’s a competition between countries members of EBU and occasional guests. Each country’s representative performs songs and dances on stage then each country’s jury and viewers give points to the 10 performances they liked the most following this order of points: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12. Of course they cannot vote for themselves. Amongst 37 participants, Sweden won for the 7th time, the actual record of 1st place tied with Ireland, thanks to the performance of Loreen singing Tattoo who won this competition for the second time, also a record tied with Ireland’s Johnny Logan. Since Sweden won this year’s edition, Sweden becomes the organizer of 2024’s edition as the winner of Eurovision has to organize its next edition.
Nowadays, Eurovision might not be as popular as it used to be and got quite more difficult due to nowadays geopolitical problems but it’s seen the participation of some interprets and songs that still echo as very popular like Celine Dion, France Gall’s Poupee de cire poupee de son or even Abba’s Waterloo. Some might not be so well-known anymore but are still very enjoyable to listen to nowadays like Udo Jurgen’s (Austria) Merci cherie.

5月13日、ユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテスト2023年版（第67回）が英国リバプールで開催されました。
ユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテストのことはすでにご存じの方もいらっしゃると思いますが、ご紹介します！
ユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテストは、1956年に欧州放送連合（EBU）が主催して以来、毎年5月に開催されている国際的なショーで、EBUに加盟している国々と時々訪れるゲストの間でパフォーマンスを競うイベントです。
各国代表がステージで歌や踊りを披露し、各国の審査員と視聴者が、最も気に入った10個のパフォーマンスにポイントを与えます： 1、2、3、4、5、6、7、8、10、12という順番です。
もちろん、自分たちに投票することはできません。37名の参加者の中で、スウェーデンが7回目の優勝を果たし、アイルランドと並ぶ1位の記録を打ち立てました。
2024年の大会はユーロビジョンの優勝国が主催することになっているので、来年はスウェーデンが主催者となりました！！
現在、ユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテストは以前ほどの人気はなく、地政学的な問題でより難しくなっていますが、セリーヌ・ディオンやフランス・ガールの「Poupee de cire poupee de son」、ABBAの「Waterloo」など、今でも人気のある楽曲が参加していました。また、あまり知られていないかもしれませんが、Udo Jurgen’s (Austria) のMerci cherieのように、今聴いてもとても楽しい曲もあります！！
