Captain Yohei Hinoki, his right foot amputated because of being shot during a dogfight in Burma, now Myanmar, came back to Japan. He then made a strenuous effort to make a comeback as a fighter pilot, putting a prosthetic leg on his amputated leg.
Hinoki, flying a new type of fighter which was a remodeled type of Hien, or Tony, fought B-29 bombers and P-51 fighter escorts which air-raided major cities in Japan. For Hinoki, this fight might have been an avenge because his foot was amputated because of an attack made by an P-51.
