My article, “Tetsuzo Iwamoto, the God of the Sky, during the Campaign in China”, will be published in the magazine, “Maru”, which will be released on Dec 28. It is said Tetsuzo shot down 14 enemy planes in China, and I wrote the breakdown of the score. The picture below shows second lieutenant Tetsuzo Iwamoto when he stationed at the Kagoshima Base in spring, 1945. On the right sleeve, there is a Japanese flag, which means this photo was taken inside Japan, not overseas.
He must have realized he had shot down, or damaged, somewhere bet. 100 and 200 enemy planes, so in this picture, I feel a kind of audacity, fearlessness, and confidence on his face.
１２月２８日発売、雑誌『丸』に、わたしが書いた「空神・岩本徹三撃墜録、日華事変」が掲載される。徹三は中国戦線にて、１４機撃墜したといわれている。その内訳を書いた。下の写真は昭和２０年春、鹿児島基地における岩本徹三少尉。
右袖に日の丸がついている。この写真は、海外基地で撮影されたものではないことがこれでわかる。本人自身、すでに撃墜破１００機～２００機と自覚しているころの一枚で、恐れを知らない自信が表情にあらわれているとわたしは思っている。
