２００９年の節分の話から
＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝
欧羅巴では、日本の節分と同じように
２月２日を、聖燭節（聖母マリアが天使ガブリエルから受胎を告知された日）
光の日として、クリスマスの飾り付けを片付ける日なのだそうです。
また、ペンシルバニアでは、この２日
Groundhog Dayとして、リスの仲間でウッドチャックという動物が
自分の影を鏡で見るか否かということを元に
春の到来を占う儀式が行われるそうです。
因みに日本には、マーモットの日として伝わっているそうです。
最近は日本からも見学の人が多く行っているとのことですが、
Groundhog Dayというと
邦題、恋はデ・デジャブという映画を観たことがあります。
私のイメージではTKOの木下に似ている、ゴーストバスターズの
ビル・マーレイ扮する人気気象予報士が、
人気に溺れた高慢ちきさゆえに罰を当てられたためか、
このGroundhog Dayを何度も何度も繰り返す
という、ちょっとばかりオカルトチックなコメディー映画です。
気象予報士と、繰り返し、と言えば、
アメリカの友人からこんなお話を紹介されました。
IT was October and the Indians on a remote reservation asked
their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.
He had never been taught the old secrets.
When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like.To be on the safe side, he told his tribe
the that the winter was indeed going to be cold and
that the members of the village should collect firewood.
But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea.
He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked,
"Is the coming winter going to be cold?"
"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,"
the meteorologist at the Weather Service responded.
So, the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later, he called the National
Weather Service again. "Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?" "Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied.
"It's going to be a very cold winter." The Chief again ordered his people to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.
Two weeks later, the Chief called the National
Weather Service again.
"Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"
"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters ever." "How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.
The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy."
新人のインデアンの酋長は、古来言い伝えられた観天望気を学ばなかったので
冬支度について心配する部族に
取り合えず用心のため薪を集めておくように指示するわけです。
しばらくして、閃いた新人酋長は気象庁に電話して確認するんです。
すると気象庁の予報士は、
今年は寒くなるようですからその準備をしたほうが良いと教えてくれます。
新人酋長は部族のところに戻り、もっとたくさん薪を集めるように、と言います。
で、集まった薪を見ながら、これでいいのかなあ、って
再び気象予報士に電話して、今年は寒くなるんですか？って訊くと、
ハイ、今年は凄く寒くなりますよ、と、予報士は答えるのです。
新人酋長は再び部族に薪を集めさせます。
そしてまた電話をして、今年は凄く寒くなるんですよね？と訊くと、
気象予報士が、勿論です、と答えます。
その根拠はどこから来るのですか、と、新人酋長が聞くと、
気象予報士曰く、インデアンが狂ったように薪を集めてますからね。って。
最近、テレビで、経済評論家と称する方が、世界恐慌並みの不況がくるとか、
他人事のように発言しているのを見たりすると、
その根拠はどこから来るのか、と訊いてみたくなります。
彼らは、テレビが毎日のように不況だ不況だと言っているじゃないですか、
って言いそうな…。

まだ当分春は来ないと出た模様
