グラミー賞受賞シンガー、エイミー・ワインハウスが7月23日（土）突然27歳で死去し、世界中に衝撃が走ったが、その後もニュースが駆け巡っている。今年死去したアーティストの中で最大級のインパクトを与えている。
まず、死因はまだ発表されていないが、一部の報道で、エクスタシーというドラッグとお酒を飲んでいたという証言がある。当初、検視は日曜に行われる予定だったが、週明けにずれこんでいる。
エイミーの死去前の様子が少しずつ判明している。
死去の前日、7月22日（金）、かかりつけの医師が夕方までに定期的にエイミーを訪問。このときの健康状態は特に問題は見られず、医師もその様子を喜んでいた、という。医師は金曜夜には、エイミーの自宅を後にした。この時点で、セキュリティー・ガード、アンドリュー・モリスが残った。
最後に言葉を交わしたのは、このアンドリューで、23日（土）午前10時ごろのこと。エイミーが「疲れたので少し寝る」と言いベッドルームに入った。その後、アンドリューが午後4時前後に起こしに行ったところ、エイミーが息をしておらず、救急車を呼び、救急隊が来たときには、すでにエイミーの死亡が確認された。エイミーが息を引き取ったとき、ベッドには他にだれもおらず、一人だった模様だ。
エイミーは水曜日（7月20日）彼女が面倒をみていた15歳のシンガー、ディンヌ・ブルームフィールドのキャムデンのライヴ・ハウス「ラウンドハウス」で行われたライヴにサプライズで登場していたが、これが公衆の面前に出た最後の姿となった。
エイミーのロンドン・キャムデンの自宅には、多くのファンが集まり、花束などを手向けている。
シンガー、M.I.Aは、死去から48時間以内に、エイミーへ捧げる「27」という楽曲をリリース、配信で発表する。
