1. シクラメンは冬の植物なので、寒さを好む。最近は日中気温が上がるせいか、ピンと立っている茎が徐々に倒れてくる。もう冬も終わりが近いようだ。
植物は夜でも水を消費することが分かった。夜も呼吸をしているからだろう。寝る前に水を満タンにして翌朝水の量を確認すると、明らかに減っている。
2. JIS B 7983排ガス中の酸素自動計測器を読んで、酸素が磁性体であることを知った。今までどこかで聞いたことがあったような気もするが、最近の業務には不要な知識だったので、酸素が磁性体であることを認識していなかった。高純度の酸素で作られたシャボン玉に、磁石を近づけるとシャボン玉は引かれる。地球は大型の磁石なので、酸素が地球の表面にとどまっていられるのは酸素に磁性があるおかげなのだろうと思った。自然はうまくできている。

2. After reading JIS B 7983 automatic oxygen meter in exhaust gas, I learned that oxygen is a magnetic substance. I feel like I've heard this somewhere before, but I didn't realize that oxygen is a magnetic substance because it wasn't necessary knowledge for my recent work. When a magnet is brought close to a soap bubble made of high-purity oxygen, the bubble is attracted. Since the Earth is a large magnet, I thought that the reason oxygen could remain on the Earth's surface was because of its magnetic properties. Nature is well made.
