As you walk amidst the falling petals, you hear the beating of wings from somewhere.
君たちが 舞い散る花びらの只中を歩いていると、どこからか 翼を打つ音が聞こえる。
【フラヴィオ】
Hey… Isn’t that Canaan?
なあ… これはカナーンかな？
【ナレーション】
You look up and indeed, it is Canaan, chief of the winged ones with whom you spoke earlier.
見上げると たしかに それはカナーン、先に君たちが話をした 翼の民の長だ。
【カナーン】
We meet again, members of Bifrost. How astonishing for those without wings to have advanced this far…
また会ったな、ビフレストの者たち。翼を持たぬ者たちが ここまで進んでくるとは なんと驚きだ。
The will of Star truly rests with you.
星の意志は 真にお前たちの元にあるのだな。
［シグルズ］
We were just lucky.
運が良かっただけさ。
【カナーン】
Yet that luck was arranged by the Star as well, no? You earthbound ones say such strange things.
しかし その運もまた 星により段取りされたものだろう？ お前たち地表の民は 本当に奇妙なことを言う。
【ナレーション】
Canaan smiles in sincere respect for your victory over the Labyrinth’s hardships.
迷宮の苦難を通しての 君たちの勝利に、心からの敬意を込め、カナーンは微笑む。
【カナーン】
I will do my duty and tell you of what lies ahead. Beyond here was our sacred ground, where the Queen of the Skies now rests.
私も 役を務め、お前たちに この先に何が横たわるのか話そう。ここから先は 我々の聖地、今は 空の女王が鎮座する場所だ。
You will find the path to the heavens there. If the Star’s will is with you, you will vanquish this terrible fiend.
そこで、お前たちは 天への道を見つけるだろう。星の意志が 共にあれば、お前たちは この恐ろしい敵を破ることができるだろう。
But you have come a long way. Is there anything you would know?
しかし、お前たちは 長い道のりを来た。何か知りたいことはないか？
I will answer what is in my power to do so, as chief of the winged ones.
私の力でそうできるものには、翼の民の長として答えよう。
【ナレーション】
Canaan falls silent in anticipation of your first question.
カナーンは 君の最初の質問を待ち、沈黙する。
Upon consideration, you know surprisingly little of these winged ones.
考えてみると、君たちは 驚くほど少ししか 翼の民のことを知らない。
It may be best to ask some questions before venturing forth.

We are born in this forest, and die within it. Our people live according to the will of the Star.

Canaan holds his head high as he speaks. You doubt you can learn anything concrete.

Hm? Do the earthbound ones not know of the will of the Star? How to explain…
む？ 地表の民たちは 星の意志を知らないのか？ どう説明したものか…。
【ナレーション】
Canaan looks up into the sky and composes his thought before responding quietly.
カナーンは 空を見上げ、思考をまとめると 静かに答え始める。
【カナーン】
The will of Star give birth to us all. It dictates all that happens.
星の意志は 我々すべてに命を与える。これは すべての事象を含める。
We live and die in accordance with the Star’s decree. Its will is our law, and is absolute.
我々は 星の決定により生き、そして死ぬ。その意志は 我々の法であり、それは絶対だ。
【フラヴィオ】
I guess I understand… but that seems like an odd way to live.
わかった…気がする…けれど、なんだか変な生き方だな。
Isn’t there something that you want to accomplish, Canaan?
お前は なにか成し遂げたいことはないのか、カナーン？
【カナーン】
Something I want…? I do not understand your meaning, earthbound one.
私のしたいこと…？ 意味が分からないな、地表の民よ。
We all live in accordance with the Star’s decree. Everything happens as it should. Nothing deviates from that.
我々は皆、星の決定により生きる。すべては あるべき様に起こる。それから逸脱するものはない。
Though I might wish it mightily, the sun will never rise from the west and set in the east.
私が強く願っただろうとしても、太陽は西からは昇らず、東には沈まない。
The will of the Star is the same.
星の意志も同じだ。
［シグルズ］
That’s just how it is?
そういうだけのもの？ ばかぼんぼん？
【カナーン】
As you say.
その通りだ。
【ナレーション】
Canaan’s voice is nonchalant as he continues his explanation.
説明を続ける カナーンの声は のほほんとしている。
【カナーン】
One of our oldest commands is to escort those who bear the pact to the heavens.
我々の最も古い命令のひとつは、天へと盟約を運ぶものを 案内すること。
In addition, we are told to carry the injured earthbound ones to the heavenly castle.
加えて、傷ついた地表の民たちを 天空の城へ運ぶようにも 言われた。
【アリアンナ】
You carry the injured to the castle? Does this Star being treat them?
怪我人を 城へ運ぶのですか？ その星が 彼らを手当てするのでしょうか？
【カナーン】
That is beyond the bounds of what has been revealed to us. We do not know.
それは 我々に明らかにされている境界の先のことだ。我々は知らない。
【ベルトラン】
So you carry them and just leave them there? Well, that’s not very responsible.
つまり、お前らは 彼らを運び、そこへ置いてくるだけか？ そりゃ、あまり責任感があると言えないな。
【カナーン】
That is the Star’s decree. It is not for us to know its will.
星の命令だ。その意志は我々の知るところではない。
You may as well ask why the rain falls, no?
お前も なぜ雨が降るのかは訊ねないだろう？
【ナレーション】
Canaan falls silent. He seems to truly have no interest in the subject.
カナーンは沈黙する。彼は この話題に本当に興味がないようだ。
【クロエ】
So they carried people to the castle. No one came back?
で、彼らは 人々をお城に運んで。誰も帰ってこないの？
【フラヴィオ】
Yeah. If anyone had, we’d have known that the castle in the sky really did exist…
ああ。もし誰か そうしていれば、おれたちは 天空の城が 本当に存在したことを 知っていただろうし…。
【ナレーション】
The way those taken there never returned leaves you with doubts, but Canaan offers no answers.
そこへ連れていかれ、決して帰って来ない者たちの様は 君たちに疑問を残すが、カナーンは 何も答えを提示しない。
Though you doubt he has any to give… There is unlikely to be any use in asking further on the matter.
君たちは 彼に 何か答える材料があるのか 疑問を持ち始めるが…。これ以上問題を尋ねても 意味はなさそうだ。

【カナーン】
It is where we go to heed the Star’s voice. It is said to be the place nearest to the Star.
我々が 星の声を聴くために行く場所だ。星に最も近い場所であると言われている。
【ベルトラン】
The Star… you mean like the ones in the night sky?
星… 夜空にある星みたいなものか？
【カナーン】
Of the multitude that exist, we exalt the one in the center of the heavens.
多数存在するもののうち、天の中心の一星を 我々は称えている。
But a star is just an effigy. Our Star is that which exists at the center of all the stars which attend it.
しかし星は あくまで肖像だ。我々の星は それに立ち会う すべての星々の中心に位置するもの。
【フラヴィオ】
I… I don’t really get it. So it’s a star… but a different star?
おれ… あんまりよくわからないや。つまり それは星で… だけど、違う星なんだな？
【カナーン】
Indeed. I am glad that you are so quick to understand.
その通りだ。理解が早くて 嬉しい。
【ナレーション】
Canaan nods with satisfaction before falling silent again, as if there is no need to say any more on the matter.
カナーンは 満足げに頷き、再び沈黙する。これについては もう何も言う必要がないと言うように。
He seems to have no particularly useful information for you…
彼は 君たちにとって 特に有用な情報は持っていないと見える…。

The Queen of the Skies
（お空の女王様ー！）
【カナーン】
The Queen of the Skies appeared before us suddenly, out of the blue heavens. We know nothing else of it.
空の女王は 突然我々の前に現れた。青い天の外へ。それ以外、我々は 何も知らない。
It descended upon our sacred ground, laying waste to our brothers and sisters who had come to hear the Star’s voice.
それは 我々の聖地へと降りてきて、星の声を聞きにやってきた 我々の兄弟、姉妹を ボロボロにした。
It was so sudden… Many of the people of the skies fell victim to the foul bird that day.
それは あまりに突然だった…。あの日、たくさんの空の人々が あの汚らわしい鳥の前に 犠牲に堕ちた。
It has since taken the sacred ground as its own, driving my people out.
そいつが聖地を我が物としてから、私の民たちを排斥し続けている。
【ナレーション】
Though Canaan speaks of the loss of his people’s sacred ground, his expression in doing so is calm and unworried.
カナーンは 彼らの聖地を失ったことを 話しているにも関わらず、そうする彼の表情は 穏やかで、不安は見えない。
［シグルズ］
Isn’t that frustrating for you.
腹が立たないのか？ この鳥野郎！ 焼き鳥にしてやる！ とか。…ああ、カナーンもリアル鳥貴族か…。
【カナーン】
Frustrating…?
腹が立つ…？
【ナレーション】
Canaan repeats your phrase with a quizzical expression.
いぶかしげな表情とともに カナーンは君の言葉を繰り返す。
【カナーン】
It was a serious event. But all is dictated by the Star. We had no strength to repel the demon bird. That is all.
深刻な出来事だった。しかし、すべては 星に述べられた事。我々には あの悪魔の鳥を払いのける力はない、それだけだ。
【アリアンナ】
Y-You say so rather dismissively…
な、なんだか無関心そうに お話されますね…。
【カナーン】
Your qualms about this are foreign to us.
これに関する お前の不安も 我々にとっては無関係なものだ。
If the holy land is deemed necessary by the Star, then one of our member shall eventually rise to slay the demon bird.
もし聖地が不可欠であると 星にみなされれば、我々のメンバーの誰かが ゆくゆく立ち上がり、その悪魔の鳥を倒すだろう。
All we can do is sharpen our fangs and talons to obey the decree that will come someday.
我々ができることは、いつか来たる命令に従うため、牙と鉤爪を研ぐことのみ。
【ナレーション】
The chief of the winged ones says so with quiet indifference, though you detect a subtle menace to his words.
君たちは 彼の言葉の中に 微妙な威圧を認めるが、翼の民の長は 静かに無関心そうに そう言う。
They must believe in the day that will come, and are confident that they can slay the demon bird on that day.
彼らは その日がきっと来ることを信じ、ある日、悪魔の鳥を倒すことができると 楽観しているのだろう。
【カナーン】
But before we received such a decree, it seems that you will be challenging the demon bird.
しかし 我々がそのような命令を受け取る前に、お前たちが あの悪魔の鳥に挑むようだ。
It is disappointing that it was not given to us to take our sacred ground back. But we trust in the Star’s will.
聖地を取り戻す役が 我々に与えられなかったのは 残念だが…。しかし、我々は 星の意志を信じる。
The Queen of the Skies instills fear in its prey with its shrill cry. Beware of that when you battle it.
空の女王は その獲物に 甲高い叫びで恐怖を植え付ける。戦う際は、そのことに気を付けるように。
【ナレーション】
After delivering this warning, Canaan blesses you and promises to pray for your safety.
この忠告を終えると、カナーンは 君たちを祝福し、無事を祈ることを約束してくれる。

With no further questions to pose to Canaan, you thank him for the information.
これ以上 カナーンに提出する質問はないので、君たちは 彼に情報の礼を言う。
Canaan raises a hand in response to your thanks, and then points to the stairs behind him.
カナーンは 君たちの感謝に応えて手を上げ、それから 背後の階段を指さした。
【カナーン】
Ascend those stairs to meet the Queen of the Skies when you are ready to slay that demon bird.
あの悪魔の鳥を葬る準備ができたら、あの階段を登り、空の女王に会うのだ。
If it is Star’s will that you will return to the castle in the heavens, then you will find yourselves victorious.
お前たちが 天空の城へ帰ることが 星の意志ならば、勝利をつかむ お前たちの姿を見つけるだろう。
If the Star wills otherwise… then so be it.
星の意志が そうでなければ… そうなるだろう。
So, Bifrost. May the Star bless you…
ビフレストよ。星が お前たちを祝福しますように…。
【ナレーション】
With that blessing, Canaan slowly rises into the air and flies away.
その祝福とともに、カナーンは ゆっくりと空へ浮かび、飛んで行った。

That sounded pretty casual for how scary it actually was, right? Was it just me?
それが どんなに恐ろしいかに対して、すげー何気なく聞こえたな。おれだけかな？

So if we’re not ‘fated’ to get to the castle in the heavens, we’ll end up dead?
で、もし俺たちが 天空の城へたどり着くことを「運命づけられていなかった」場合、行き着くのは死か。
The winged ones sure don’t mince words.
翼の民は 本当に言葉を選ばねぇんだな。
【クロエ】
But it’s easy to understand.
だけど、わかりやすい。
【アリアンナ】
I cannot be sure that the mandate they speak of is with us.
彼らの話す 私たちについての意図は 不確かですが…。
But there is nothing to be done for it than to charge headlong into the fray!
しかし、成すことは 真っ逆さまに乱闘に飛び込むよりほかありません！
［シグルズ］
We’ll win, no matter what!
俺ちゃんたちは勝つ。何があってもな。
【フラヴィオ】

ああ！
【ナレーション】
You are free to challenge the demon bird awaiting your arrival, or head back to High Lagaard first.
君たちは、君たちの到着を待つ 悪魔の鳥に挑むのも、まずは ハイラガードに戻るのも自由だ。

After making your way past countless floating island, you finally gain as audience with the Queen of the Skies!
数えきれない 浮遊島を進むと、君たちは ついに空の女王に謁見を得る！
【フラヴィオ】
We’ve seen it once before, but… it’s not any less daunting up close.
前に一度は見ていたけれど…迫力があるに他ならないな。
【クロエ】
It doesn’t seem bothered by us.
私たちを 気にも留めてないみたい。
【アリアンナ】
Still, I am anxious to approach it…
けれど、あれに近づくのは 不安ですね…
【ナレーション】
You sense no palpable menace from the demon bird, but Arianna is correct in that there is an eerie tension in the air.
悪魔の鳥から 明瞭な威嚇は感じないが、アリアンナは正しく、その空気には 不気味な緊張がある。
［シグルズ］
Don’t let it unnerve you.
怯むな。隣にいる男を思い出せ。運命の鎖より解き放たれし者。古の盟約を担う男。その双肩に ２つの約束の力を持つ俺ちy
【ナレーション】
You tell your guildmates not to let the monster’s unhurried attitude rattle them.
君は ギルドメイトに、魔物の落ち着いた様子に 狼狽えないように促す。
【ベルトラン】
Right. We won’t know what it’s capable of until we start fighting it, so it’s best to be ready for anything.
そうだな。戦いを始めるまでは 何ができるかも分からない。あらゆることに備えるのが ベストだ。
【ナレーション】
You nod to each other, to shake off the fear constricting your movements.
君たちは互いにうなずき、行動を萎縮させる 恐怖を振り払う。
Now, prepare for battle! A powerful enemy stands before you to be defeated!
さあ、戦いに備えたまえ！ 眼前に立つ強力な敵が 君たちの倒すべき相手だ！

Your stubborn resistance to the Queen of the Skies’ shrieks pays off as the demon bird’s strength ebbs, and it collapses.
空の女王の甲高い叫びへの、君たちの頑なな抵抗は 悪魔の鳥の力に 引き潮をもたらし、それは崩れ落ちる。
You have defeated the dreadful tyrant reigning over this Stratum!
君たちは この階層を治める 恐ろしい暴君を倒した！
【ベルトラン】
Damn, but that was one nasty monster. That fight took a lot out of me…
くそ、しかし嫌らしい魔物だったぜ。この戦いは かなり疲れたな…。
［シグルズ］
Thanks for your help, Bertrand.
ありがとうな、ベルトラン。…イェーイ！ ほら、グータッチ、グータッチ！
【ベルトラン】
That’s more like it. I could do with a little more appreciation around here.
そうこなくっちゃな！ ここじゃ もうちょっとばかり、俺は感謝されたいもんだ。
【アリアンナ】

【フラヴィオ】
Yeah, we’d have been dead meat without you, old man.
ああ、あんたがいなかったら 今ごろ俺たちは死肉になってたぜ、おっさん。
【クロエ】
Trand’s is the world’s best. No one’s better.
トランドは世界一。誰もかなわない。
【ベルトラン】
…Those last two comments sounded pretty forced, if you ask me.

ふぅ…。まあ、俺も悪かったか。俺たちみんな、全員よくやった。
【ナレーション】
As you shout for joy in celebration of your victory, a figure descends from above.
君が 勝利を祝して 雄叫びを上げていると、１つの影が 上から降りてくる。
The figure turns out to be Canaan, chief of the winged ones.
その影はカナーン、翼の民たちの長であることが明らかになる。
【カナーン】
It would appear you have slain the Queen of the Skies, Bifrost.
どうやら空の女王を倒したようだな、ビフレスト。
I was unsure whether earthbound ones would have the strength to do so…
地表の民が そのような力を持つのか 確信が持てなかったが…
But all is clear now. It was the Star’s will that you would reach this place.
しかしいまは すべてが明らかだ。お前たちが この場所にたどり着くのは 星の意志だったのだ。
【ナレーション】
Canaan seems impressed with you, and gives a pleased smile.
君たちに感銘を受けた様子の カナーンは、喜びの笑みを浮かべる。
【カナーン】
We have recovered our sacred ground and you have reached the path to the heavens.
我々は 聖地を取り戻し、そして お前たちは 天への道へたどり着いた。
Everything has gone as it should. Just as the almighty Star decreed.
すべてはあるべき様に進んでいる。まさに大いなる星が 命じたように。
The path you seek is ahead. Please proceed, those favored by the Star.
お前たちの求める道は この先だ。進んでくれ。それが星の御望みだ。
【ナレーション】
With that, Canaan spreads his wings and flies off into the sky.
そう言うと、カナーンは翼を広げ、空へと飛び立っていく。
【アリアンナ】
…He’s gone. I would have liked to speak with him more…
…行っちゃいました。もう少し彼と話がしたかったのですが…
［シグルズ］
He’s an impatient man.
堪え性のねぇイケメンだ。やっぱ本物は俺ちゃんだけだな。
【アリアンナ】
Hahah… Seen in that light, it’s almost endearing!
はは… その観点から見ると、なんだか愛らしいですね！
【フラヴィオ】
Is it…?
そうかな…？
【ナレーション】
Now that you’ve seen the chief of the winged ones off, you are free to proceed further in or return to town.
翼の民の長が 離れるのを見送り、君たちは さらに進むのも、街に戻るのも自由だ。

【アリアンナ】
So this is the path leading to the heavens…
そして、これが天へと繋がる道…
【ナレーション】
You pause before a pillar of light which rises into the sky.
君たちは 空の中へと昇る光の柱の前で 立ち止まる。
You look up, but the hazy air above blocks your view of the heavens.
見上げるが、上空の霞む空気が 天を仰ぐ君たちの視界を遮る。
【ベルトラン】
We’ve finally made it. We sure took the long way here, huh?
ついにやったか。ここまで長い道のりだったよな？
【クロエ】
A lot happened.
たくさんのことが起こった。
【フラヴィオ】
Too much, if you ask me. When we first came to the forest, trying to reach the floating castle never entered my mind.
おれに言わせれば、あまりにも、かな。最初に樹海に来たときは、天空の城を目指すなんて 心にも浮かばなかった。
［シグルズ］
You’re right.
いよっ、大統領！ 仰る通り！
【フラヴィオ】
We’re living proof that you never know what life will bring.
人生が何を運ぶかわからない、その証を おれたち生きてるよな。
Seriously, l can’t believe we’re all the way up here…
本当に、ここまで来たなんて 信じられないや…。
【ナレーション】
As you exchange banter with each other, you look up once more at the path leading to the heavens.
君たちは お互いにからかい合いながら、もう一度 天へと延びる道を見上げる。
The journey until now has been harsh and painful, with many ugly truths exposed along the way.
ここまでの旅路は 厳しく、苦しいものだった。たくさんの醜悪な真実が明らかにされた。
Yet the Bifrost guild stands here now, with a full complement.
しかし、いまビフレストは ここに立っている。全員揃って。
Since you have foregone the long-loved ritual to seal the Calamity, you must forge onward to find a way of destroying it.
厄災を封じるための、長き歳月に渡る儀式を失ってから、それを倒す方法を見つけるため、君たちは 進むしかなかった。
You address your guildmates once more before preceding with newfound resolve.
新たな答えとともにに進む前に、君は もう一度 ギルドメイトに呼びかける。
